Another gun toting loon, or false flag setup prior to the democratic convention to emphasis the need for "gun control?" I'm a conspiracy inclined person as see this as way too convenient.

Report of shots at Arkansas Dems headquarters

By ANDREW DeMILLO – 19 minutes ago

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday, a party executive said. A television station reported that three shots were fired at party headquarters.

"There has been an incident at the party and chairman (Bill) Gwatney has been taken to the hospital," said Bruce Sinclair, the director of the state Democratic Party.

Police said they apprehended a suspect.

Sarah Lee, a sales clerk at a flower shop across street from the party headquarters, said that around noon Gwatney's secretary ran into the shop and asked someone to call 911. She said a man had come into the party and shot Gwatney multiple times.

Lee said the secretary told her the man had come into the party's office and asked to speak with Gwatney. When the secretary said she wouldn't allow him to meet with Gwatney, the man went into his office and shot him, Lee said.

She said the secretary described the man as in his 40s and white and drove off in a blue truck.

apprently he also had a shoot out with police.

Officers said they pursued a white man in his 40's that fled the scene in a blue Dodge pickup truck. Police say the suspect was apprehended following a high-speed chase that stretched into Grant County, south of Little Rock. Police say the suspect was shot by Arkansas State Police troopers during his capture near Sheridan. The suspect's condition was not immediately known.

Hope the guy who was shot recovers, and lets see how the media handles it.

When the secretary said she wouldn't allow him to meet with Gwatney, the man went into his office and shot him,

Not listening to people when they tell you not to do stuff! Who DOES that! It's positively.. criminal.

My hopes for Mr. Gwatney's speedy recovery, and sincere prayers that his party won't roll him straight from PACU outside to a soap box.

I think strapping on the tin foil only makes gun owners look worse for the incident.

Wow.

What is it with Arkansas and conspiracy theories? Can it until more details come out, please? This kind of talk seriously makes this community look bad.

Even if I have a tin-foil hat, I don't put it on without something more substantial than WISHING it was a conspiracy.

There are many things out there that are conspiracies, made by the centralized corporate media to make the people work for them. Obviously, they are either blatant lies, or imagined evils inflated to an outrageous state just for the intention of striking fear.

Things such as:

"Guns kill more children than anything else"

"Secret concentration camps in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea"

"Assault rifles"

"Machine guns"

"The thing that goes up"

Just to name a few.

And in the meantime, if the Brady Campaign extorts a few million more dollars, that will obviously go unreported.

Funny, we had a different take in my office.
"Guess gun control does work. Good thing there wasn't a CCW in that office or he'd have been DRT. Now we can spend thousands trying him and paying a psyco-logist to learn why he did it."
Had that been Georgias Tim Bearden, the ending woulve been much different.

A strong leader is needed to unite a nation torn apart by materialism, worthless entertainment and leftist brainwashing.

Like a man from only 22 centuries ago, a strong man like Qin Shi Huang...
;)

I smell something really, really fishy in this statement.
Just what do you think is fishy? It seems like your typical basic vague description of a suspect that just shot her boss to me.

Maybe he was an Obama guy mad that the guy was a Hillary fan. I seem to recall reading somewhere he was a car dealer. Maybe he sold the guy a lemon. Who knows how these nuts think. I am still thinking a jealous husband though.

He is a superdelegate who endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, according to the Web site Sourcewatch.org.

“We are stunned and shaken by today’s shooting at the Arkansas Democratic Party where our good friend and fellow Democrat Bill Gwatney was critically wounded,” Hillary and Bill Clinton said in a joint statement issued Wednesday. “Bill is not only a strong chairman of Arkansas Democratic Party, but he is also a cherished friend and confidante. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill and his family today and we wish him a quick recovery.”

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama also expressed his condolences.

“I was shocked and saddened to hear about the tragedy in Arkansas,” Obama said in a statement. “We’re all grateful for the quick action of law enforcement and quick thinking by Chairman Gwatneys staff, and Michelle and I are keeping him and his family in our prayers.”

It is fishy when you think about what happened in terms of a leftist 'conspiracy'. Because that particular quote from the OP's article is the typical "redneck" stereotype employed by antigunners to portray gun owning Americans who live in rural areas. Just the color of the truck probably changes from story to story.

El Tejon? Where are you when we need you?

I don't see how a white guy driving a pickup truck of whatever color is stereotyping anyone. Lots of us white guys like pickup trucks. We can't all afford Beamers.

Proud former pickup truck owner :)

That is quite a stretch. Maybe he is a white guy, surprising number out there, you know, driving a truck. Also quite common.

As for the conspiracy theories, there are plenty of criminal/crazy people with lousy judgement running around who occaisionally shoot people for all the wrong reasons.

Re:ilbob. No, no, I am probably not being understood correctly. I always pay attention to gun related news stories, from NYS as well as other states, even if the story is about gunshots heard at some neighborhood. Most of the time, if the situation is not yet clear to investigators, they would still report on the "possible" identity of the offender, and most of these initial reports contain "redneck" type stereotyping, especially if it happens in a rural area.

And when the shots happen in a very urban area, a initial report would usually make references to a "black male". Usually, the following reports that come after the situation is thoroughly investigated is quite different than initial reporting.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it. I doubt there is any attempt to pin the blame on us white guys. Journalism never was a high brow activity and it continues to sink. There is very little in the way of fact checking, and much emphasis on getting the stories out first. Its not just that way with gun and crime related stories. All news stories are infected with this problem.

Sure, but the latest (fabricated?) detail is that it was a ...Chevrolet truck!

The suspect, driving a Chevrolet pickup truck, was chased south for about 25 miles by police officers and was shot after he was stopped...

Seriously, I hope that Mr. Gwatney makes a full recovery and that the gunsel gets his due punishment. It's really a terrifying thing to face a man with a gun.

Everybody knows how incredibly rare, and only driven by rednecks, Chevrolet trucks are :). Sounds like it was an accurate description by the secretary. Good for her.

Condolences to Gwatney.
