Just picked up the can this morning. The varmints in the area are in BIG trouble. :D

That's a 26" barrel from White Oak, custom-ordered with a threaded muzzle and M4 ramps. AAC M4-1000 Mod 08 silencer. Burris XTR 3-12x50 scope.

I wonder how fast that thing'll push a bullet out. IIRC, 1" of barrel is an increase of velocity by 16%, right?

How much does that bad boy weigh?
Ha, a LOT. It's definitely not something to hump through the woods all day. More like put it on a portable shooting bench about 300 yards from a prairie dog town and don't move for the rest of the afternoon. I think it's in the 13-14lb range, I don't have a scale more accurate than my bathroom scale.

is the can real or faux?
Very real. I like quiet guns.

I'm hoping to hit 3k fps with a 75gr A-max, but I have no chrono currently. I've been waiting for the can to arrive before working up a load for it.

Hoping to achieve that kind of speed is quite realistic with that set-up... the shot's gonna make a loud crack though, seeing as it's WAY supersonic; do you think it'll be safe to not wear hearing protection around it?
As far as carrying it through the woods all day, when not get a nice three-point sling and carry it like a backpack? Of course, you'll have to keep a pistol handy, just in case... ;)
Anyway, awesome set-up. What's the stock and RIS?

The Finnish have done extensive sound testing, and once the bullet is beyond 1200fps, there is very little variation in the sound of the ballistic crack. It should sound no different than a load at 2700fps.

The can is OSHA hearing-safe even with supersonic ammo, but I will still wear ear-pro, as 130dB will still damage your hearing over time.

Stock is Magpul PRS, rail is Troy MRF-RX.

2" extended gas system. Can was from Major Malfunction, you can contact him for current pricing. Scope is around $780 on sale from Optics Planet right now.

I have the AAC Ranger on my AR, its a sealed unit and is extremly quiet.

The suppressor didn't affect accuracy with my loads, I've got a 24" floater barrel.

I have a Rat problem, during the summer and put the ranger on the Walther pistol and dispatch them quickly.

(next neighbors a few acres over own a Korean resturant and do most the cooking at home throughout the night and use the scraps as fertilizer for some of the vegatables they grow and thus attracts alot of rats)

Have fun.
