Last time my nephew was here for a visit he built this: Double Star stripped lower and complete rifle kit from Ranger Sales. 24" ss bull barrel.

I have one. A bone stock LMT M4gery with a detachable carry handle. Several PMAGS and some aluminum GI mags.

You won't find much ARs with higher quality or attention to detail...yes, there are a couple of better ones out there, but for the price point, you won't find much that will touch it...

Very high quality components. Totally reliable. At most, I will add a sling, some kind of optics, maybe a suppressor, and maybe (maybe) a rail system.

The main dislike I have of the AR-15 platform is the loud sound signiture. I have seen unreliable ARs, but mine is rock solid and has only had 1 user caused issue that I quickly resolved...I'll happily take it to any carbine class and run it without fear of breakage (except I don't have the funds for the ammo).

Stock except for an RRA 2-stage trigger. Does the job and does it well.

i just got a stag ar 15. just wondering what would be the best ammo to use.
Best for what? Best for accuracy? Probably Hornady TAP in either 69gr or 75gr. Best for plinking? Federal XM193, Winchester Q3131A, Prvi M193, or S&B M193 are good mil-spec loads. Remington UMC 55gr and Federal 50gr JHP Value Pack stuff works well too.

Ok guys I have somewhat of a techinical question. I have 1 AR so far and lower I am going to pick up tomorrow. My first is post #19. To me its not an evil looking rifle. So with my new lower I want to do the desert camo thing but I also want a mall ninja type AR. This 1 will definitely be 5.56. Is it possible to combine scary mall ninja looking with desert camo?

Laser Engraving

Ceetee, where did you get the art on your lower. I love it! Is it possible to DIY?

His lower is from Anvil Arms, they do free laser engraving with your artwork on a lower or rifle purchased from them. I believe you can also pay them to do the engraving on your rifle.

One of my AR's, Anvil Arms lower, Del-Ton upper assy, and lower kit.

Bump!

Today I made my last pre-2008 election purchase and decided to do my part to ensure that AR-15s are "in common use" (per Heller). Here's my new Colt AR-15A2 Government Carbine (AR6520):

Restricted? Not really.

This is what an AR-15 carbine should be IMHO. Light, fast-handling, and simple. YMMV. I'm going to keep it KISS, maybe add a red dot or one of the Hakko CH scopes I have, maybe and IDF sling and handguard wrap.

BTW, for those who think that Colt doesn't care at all about the civilian market, they included an NRA brochure and application in the box.

Forgot about this thread. Dave, nice choice. Love the 6520 and just sold one of mine off to finance this.
