Okay, with the rash of restaurant take over robberies in this area is there any chance that having to dine out would qualify me for a CCW in Contra Costa County? :scrutiny:

Granted most of the robberies have been in Alameda and Santa Clara counties, but that's just next door.

This is from a year ago at CALCCW:

Applying for a CCW License in Contra Costa County
According to the Californa DOJ statistics, there were 399 permits issued by the Contra Costa sheriff office as of 2006. That is an increase of 121 over the prior year.

Contra Costa County has been a well known non-issue county for years, with alleged collusion between the Sheriff and city police chiefs to deny CCWs to most people. You might read a research and commentary on Contra Costa issuance policies at http://www.equalccw.com/cccc2.pdf.

That being said, they have been increasing the number of permits.

That works if you're a cop, a high elected official, or someone who's contributed a lot of money to a high elected official. If you're a mere commoner, you have no legal right to defend your life in most of California.

I went to High School (Pleasant Hill) and College (DVC) in Contra Costa County but I escaped as quick as I could.

When I got out of the Army I tried to get a carry license and was told there wasn't a need for one, even though I lived outside of Martinez.

Ha, die sucker, I was told. Forget it.

Moved to Texas where there are still some rights and freedoms

CCW in Kontra Kosta Kounty in California?

I've tried as have numerous other people, you would be fortunate to even get an application to carry.

Actually, my original posting was meant as sarcasm. Just wondering not that the East Bay has turned into the wild west when the good guys are going to get armed. It seems to me that just living in this area should be grounds for CCW.

Standing Wolf is right. Until California has a "shall issue" permit system, ordinary people will have the same chance of getting a a license as a snowball on a street corner in Phoenix at high noon on July 4th.

Which is just one reason I would never consider living there, or for that matter in New York, Washington DC, Chicago. (on and on....).

I grew up in CCC. I now have moved to San Mateo County and it is even worse here. They only way to get a CCW in the Bay Area is with connections, campaign contributions, or an attorney. :banghead: Living in California and the Bay Area specifically is the front line for RKBA.

Ha! You live in the up scale neighborhood. Try living in the Concord, Pittsburg or Antioch area without a carry gun. Same as comitting suicide
I live in Concord. I must be doing it wrong for 18 years here ...
