hi-point rifles

One of these that takes the G18 32 round mags would be nice. Kind of like the Sub2000 but without the cost.

I would get one but for the low cap mags.

I dont think you'll hear a whole lot bad about the Hi-Point carbine; other than someone saying they are uglier than a box of baby bulldogs. I still want one, tho. In my opinion, I think it fits perfectly as a range/beater gun. Cheap to buy, affordable to shoot, & reliable. Whats not to like?

Love my 995 9mm. Husband gave it to me as a christmas gift a couple years ago. He thought I was crazy for wanting it but now he is a believer!
With a cheap red dot on it it is a fun plinker.:)

I've only heard good things about hi-point despite how they look as well. I've fired a hi-point 9mm pistol and it rivaled my Glock 19 in accuracy and function.

Now that I've seen the ATI stock I may pick one up.

Laser995.jpg 2" groups at 50 yds.Mine is equipped with both the red-dot and a laser, one is zeroed at 25 yds the other at 50 yds. The heavier ATI stock makes recoil almost non existant, and reduces noise level by a considerable amount.I have fine tuned mine [the magazine release and sanded down any high spots on the action] and can load and fire five magazines in less than 30 seconds.

Still waiting for Hi-Point to start selling the .45ACP carbine.

I don't own anything in 9mm or .40, so I want the .45 since that means I won't have to stock another calibre of ammo.

And since many years back in a moment of major foolishness, I let my Marlin .45 Camp Carbine get away....Line forms here to kick Foggy's shins for that dumb move

Pig-butt-stuck-in-a-mud-fence-ugly? Oh, yeah. The Hi-Points go Bang! on request every time, and put the lead where you aim. For sub-$250 carbines and sub-$200 handguns, what more can you ask? I'll take function over looks any day, particularly in what may be an emergency situation.

They make really fun project guns as well, really can do just about anything you want to them:

Flip up BUIS:

And the best part, short of purchasing an Eotech 512 to mount on the rail, the cost of the entire build project was just about $300.00 in parts and materials.

Yeah, the 4595 is akin to Duke Nukem Forever or Guns and Roses "Chinese Democracy"; It's always on the way, but it never seems to get here.

I have never fired one, although I have observed them on the range. I have never seen one jam, and they appear to be roughly as accurate as a well tuned 1911 pistol. Then again seeing as how it is a carbine, that is not much of an accomplishment.

The last time I was around a guy shooting one I was shooting tighter groups at 25 yards with my Kimber Super Match from standing off hand than he was...

Of course this was when I was working up for Collegiate Nationals (pistol) in 2003, so I was doing a lot of shooting. Think of how much practice you would all do if you had free match ammo to burn, and a Benelli MP95E to run it through.

This is a rifle I want to hate when looking at it but after using it can't do anything but love it. A friend of mine bought one in .40. When he said he did I thought "Oh great some piece of crap he'll bring out that won't shoot accurate, won't be reliable, and something I'll be asked to fix." Then he showed it to me and I thought even worse things. Then he fired it and I thought "One more mag and this thing is going to be in pieces." After that mag it turned into the next, and then the next, and then...we ran out of ammo. I was almost a bit pissed. I was expecting it to do bad and it consistently shot where I aimed and fed as well as could be asked. After a bit more use it really is a fun gun. Even more of the fun is that it is SO dang ugly that everyone new to it thinks it must be crap until they fire a few mags through it and can't find anything wrong. I must say it is one of the few firearms I have went into thinking it was going to be awful and came out happy. Some you know will be junk from the start and are, others seem great and turn out to be junk. Very rarely have I had a rifle like this surprise me for the better. I don't think anyone can really go wrong picking one of these up. The only slight negative is that the mags only hold 10 rounds but that is a mild complaint for the price and performance.

Back when the HiPoint carbine first became available I bought one (le price $115) to keep in the trunk of my cruiser. I took a lot of ribbing about the "plastic space gun" until the troops saw it shoot at the range!

Fed everything we could stuff in the magazine, shot all pretty much to poa.

Not pretty, not tacticool, but cheap and reliable.

My 9mm has been back to the factory 3 times. On my dime. Total shipping cost...$150. They didn't reimburse me for one of their screwups when refurbishing the receiver.

These are the two targets from my first trip to the range with my new .40 carbine. 50 rounds in each target, right out of the box, I didn't touch the sights, and I'm so blind I can hardly see them anyway. It's either the target or the sights, can't see 'em both. Sure, there's a few flyers, but I'd never shot the thing before. Got a red-dot on it now, can't wait to go hunting water-filled soda cans!

A 9mm Carbine or Pistol? And what "screwups" were there? What was wrong with your Hi-Point?

Sorry, that was indoors at 10 yards. Standing freehand, unsupported, which I haven't done much of. I prefer sitting at a bench with a beanbag.

Oh, and I'd put a tiny piece of masking tape on the front sight so I could see it.

I stopped in a shop on my way to fill out the paperwork for my new job today. They had a used 995, front sight removed and fitted with a cheap Simmons 3-9x scope, for 139. Sold! Gonna go pick it up in a little bit.
