Oleg Volk, Creepy as hell?

The section that was originally posted is a summary of recent threads in the gun forum. A discussion of Oleg Volk's creepy level had come up before in regard to that picture and others. So everyone that is trying to say this is anti-gunner propaganda and what not need to realize that some people like Volk and some think his work is creepy. It has nothing to do with guns. Also, Zack Parsons had nothing to do with the first link.

To quote :
because I love Counter-Strike so much that I want to drop $1200 on a .22 Magnum hand gun

Yes I am convinced the guy from that sight has absolutely NO idea what way is up,

And the Oleg piece I have no problem with it the kids seem obviously happy so Oh well.

He's kooky too.
[Connie Stevens]Kooky, Kooky, lend me your comb[/Connie Stevens] Sorry, couldn't resist.:p

As far as the girls being creepy? I think they're cute as hell. And as far as the fashion statement? Well, even purple ARs go with blue jeans. Blue jeans go with everything.:D

I wouldn't say either the photo or Oleg are "creepy" but I'm not really on board with idea of dolling up rifles to look like girly toys. I mean, they're not toys, so don't make them look like toys. Just my opinion though.

I'm registered over at SA and I think most of you are assuming too much from one article. While the writer of that article was most definitely against guns, and not funny in the least, the forums themselves I would say tend to lean pro-gun rights. The subforum The Firing Range is my favorite gun forum on the web, mostly for the fact that it is totally free of right wing extremists who fantasize day and night about shooting brown people, the type of stuff that makes arfcom so nauseating. They also ban counter-strikery, which is good.

And also, yes I think Oleg is creepy. Not necessarily for the photo shown above (although I think that making guns looks like toys is extremely irresponsible), but for his borderline softcore porn pictures showing women placing the muzzles of guns down their panties. THATS creepy.

I, too, am a long time Goon, and I wouldn't take ANYTHING Parsons says as anything.

Though TFR IS the best gun forum, period.

Unfortunately there comes times when satirists let their internal politics show through their normally funny if not hilarious work.
This is one of those times.
You can tell because it is not funny.
To anyone.
But the author.
Seriously, I can laugh at anything, including my friends, if it is sufficiently funny.
This just WASN'T FUNNY.
Not that "Oh, I'm offended, I might faint", but it did not make me laugh, not even chuckle inside.
In fact, I can't think of anyone who would think that was funny.
Thus, the author of the website meant it.
Normally, satire content that is anti-RKBA hits my funnybone (provided that it is genuinely funny).
This is just sad. Somethingawful had some good stuff, too.
Just oral diarrhea.
Pay no heed.
However, Oleg is right: it is advertisement for the reasoning human being.

Welcome to libertarianism: the right to be weird.
Is Oleg weird?
You bet.
So am I.
Truly everyone is weird. The only people who "aren't" are the ones who heed society enough to hide it.
Good thing? Bad thing? I dunno.
Creepy would be if Oleg forced the lovely ladies to do that. I am quite sure he didn't.
I guess my final point is: WHO CARES?
Besides, some of us like Oleg's near-porn. It's better than a lot of the other stuff that's got zero-artistic value.
Oops. Guess I just got this thread closed...:uhoh:
DISCUSSION END NOW.

Guns are fine for any sort of law enforcement agents, firemen, private security guards, bail bondsmen, trick shooters, time traveling cowboys, and anyone else who actually uses a gun on the job.

Wait, why would a fireman need a gun on the job? Wouldn't that be a little bit dangerous carrying a loaded gun into a raging inferno?

From the outside, some of Oleg's pictures look creepy. Even if you're pro gun, two little girls holding hands over ARs does look a little creepy.

That's just the way some people are going to interperet it and they're welcome to their opinion.

What, the Mosin paintball gun?
Yeah, I saw it.
Too bad the bolt doesn't actually work.
Don't really see how that's on topic, though...

As another "SA goon", my two cents:

Something Awful is meant to offend, provoke and ridicule by means of exaggeration, disproportion and satire.

I'm sorry, "I can't think of anyone who'd like it, thus the author meant it" is just wrong. Since when an author's intention depends on what a reader thinks?

Let me tell you, with all due respect: you are wrong. I thought the article was funny. Thus, the author meant it [to be funny].

Something Awful is written with a target audience in mind: young people, many in the IT field. I fit that target, so when I read If, for example, you work at a data center monitoring server racks, you should not be carrying a gun I laughed out loud, because (give or take), he could be talking about me as if he knew me. And really, let's be honest: datacenters are not dangerous places. Maybe the author intended to really offend me and he'd spit in my face if he could. But then...

Gtab @ TFR said:
It has become fashionable in TFR to mock people who take guns seriously as weapons instead of as toys.

Gtab is what we could call a "prominent member" of Something Awful's gun forum (TFR, The Firing Range). His words don't mean that TFR only views guns as toys... but it is an indicator of the satirical, "in jest" spirit of it. It is, first and foremost, a place to enjoy and have fun... serious stuff is welcomed when it's really well presented and sustained. But you'll find lots of gun-related humor, generated by the very patrons (not just copypasting lolcats from random websites).

As with all forms of humor, you might or might not enjoy it.

I, for one, hate Garfield.

That's made in Something Awful and it also made me laugh. Like the article which originated this thread did.

PS: Oh, and a thing to consider: the frontpage articles and the forums are two different entities, which no necessary congruence or correspondance. Maybe the author of that article really, truly, wishes for guns to be banned. It doesn't change a thing about what a great place TFR is to hang around.

Another Goon reporting in. Most of the SA writers and members are insufferable anti-gun, liberal, tree hugging nitwits. The Firing Range is an island of sanity in the midst of all the nonsense.

But people who don't embrace the 2nd amendment mindset are going to find most of Oleg's photos a bit disturbing. Big deal.

"anyone else who actually uses a gun on the job"

protecting and providing for my family?
It's a full time JOB.
Glad he approves!
.... like I needed it anyway :D

Pretty much anything that gets said in TFR gets put into crazy.txt by the helldump trolls. It seems like its almost become a game in TFR to make helldumpers heads spin as much as possible.
