AR magazines: does anyone make a transparent one?

Steyr Aug mags do not intrchange but they are transparent as well as are SIG 550/551 magazines. I think Ramline used to make a smoke colored transparent interchangeable AR/mini14 mag.

Yes, the ramline is transparent. I found them to be a bit on the fragile side though.

Are those Israeli plastic ones see through? I think they are orlite or something of the sort?

Edit: NM, the Orlites are not se through.

I've seen a video of a full auto M4 with a smoked plastic mag. It appeared to function fine (didn't malf during the recorded ammo dump) but I have no idea what brand it was, etc.

Eagle made (makes?) smoked plastic mags. I've seen them for both Mini-14 and AR-15.

I think I still have some Eagle AR mags here somewhere...

I bought 7 of the Ramline AR mags back in 1990, when I first went into the Army. What a complete waste of a lot of money. IIRC, I paid just shy of $120 for the 7 of them, when I was making just over $600 base pay per month. They never did function properly. The first time I took them to the field, I got a small amount of sand in them. That was obviously enough to gum-up the whole mag. They were next to impossible to disassemble also. If only I were more knowledgeable, I could have spent that $120 on beer and women, like all young soldiers are suppose to do.

I have two of the Ramlines from before the Clinton crime...bill. They function OK but if you bump a loaded one, even slightly, the feed lips flex enough so that they barf their rounds out all over the place. :barf: :cuss:

There's the Magpul PMAGS with the window in them if you are just looking to see into the magazine. Plus, (imho of course) they are the best overall AR mags hands down. They can be had at $17 a pop.

You can also get the Lancer L5 for about $19 or so. The Lancer has a rubber piece on the bottom which is kind of nice but I still don't think they are as good as PMAGS.

Lancer or PMag, as others have said. They both seem to be safe as long as they don't get soaked in DEET insect repellent.

Ill have to look into Pmag..
but I just dont see why anyone would want a plastic mag that is see thru.... mabey its cause Ive never had one, lol.
I understand counting shots over looking at them..

thats just me..

ip.

I bought a Lancer from AIM, and have put about a hundred rounds through it on both my Stag and my Sig, zero problems. So long as you don't patrol the DEET factory, they look to be perfectly acceptable magazines.

Lancer

I got a Lancer from 44MAG about a month ago. Put 30 rounds in it and set it on a shelf.
Today I took the loaded mag to a local ranch along with a never fired RRA heavy barrel 20" upper.
Both rifle and mag preformed perfectly.
The mag was loaded again and dumped through a friends Colt M-16. Flawless.

44 Mag is one of the good guys to deal with. Local dealer who I
attempt to spend time with. The MagP followers make a big differ-
ance, and even hand loading cartridges you definately can tell a
a big improvement. The composit mags either the solid black, or
with the see in window, are much tougher. Also they do not dent or
crush and are almost abuse proof. I think perhaps the magazine lips
also outlast the aluminum ones . Read testing of attemting to get
the plastic to fail, including running them over and burial in sand. Pretty
impressive they are that tough. Mark of 44 Mag, can provide you with
most anything in that line of magazines and some others.:D

mag

I also get all my M-14 mags from 44MAG. Wish he had some AR-10 mags.
