Thinking about getting a Ruger Bisley in .357 magnum. Does it shoot .38 Special +P ammuntion as well?

Please show some pics of your Rugers. I need some eye candy.

Sorry, I don't have a pic of my Ruger Bisley at the moment...

But yes, the .357mag will shoot your .38spls. But why stop there? The Bisley Super Blackhawk in .44mag or .45LC is the way to go.

Forget ye not the .41, Jack! Goldilocks' favorite caliber, you know.

This is my Accusport Bishawk:

Gee ChristopherG, would you be willing to sell that?:D

I checked the Ruger online catalog and they only have it in steel blue. Not stainless.

My goodness, you've got it bad, haven't you! ;)

Ruger doesn't catalogue a regular Bisley in .41, to the best of my knowledge. This was part of a special run for Accusport. I understand they've done them in some other calibers as well, but I haven't seen a lot of they lying around. You do see the 7.5" 'hunter' models around sometimes, but this is 5.5", which I find I prefer.

I'm gonna hang on to this one a mite longer, but thanks for the offer.

Here's four Acusports (one of each) that live comfortably tucked away:

And a fifth one that's a shooter (45 Colt):

Actually the Bisley was chambered as a cataloged model in .41 magnum (also in .32 H&R magnum as well) Last year a shipment was distributed by davidson's so some of tose are proberly floating around out there and available. The .357 model is not listed currently on Ruger's site so some have started rumors about it's discontinuance. I've heard nothing of the sort from any official sources. Now, if you must have a .357 model Bisley, you can buy a current one or wait a bit and grab one of the Acusport ones that's supposed to become available I'm told around the beginning of the year. if a regualr blued one will suffice, Davidson's lists them as being in stock.

I Have 2 of These

Ruger Bisley Vaquero in .44 Mag. I know, I need to take some of my own pics of the twins in their holsters!

I was lucky to find a second one after I bought my belt & holsters.

When I wanted to order a new holster for my new Ruger Bisley that I got for Christmas, some dealers (mail order) told me that one for a SAA would fit but the Bisley is bigger. It's one big revolver. Here's my Bisley compared to a Colt 2nd Gen SAA.

:D :D :D
Beautiful steel everyone!
Thank you!

I will be purchasing a .41 magnum Bisley in the near future. Will be my woods gun.

ROA Bisley

Bisley Retro

This is my John Linebaugh custom Ruger Bisley in .500 Linebaugh. I met John a few years ago and got an invitation to shoot with him. 20 Rounds later I was hooked. The one thing that really impresses me is how well the Bisley grip and frame handle what is essentially rifle cartridge power.

I purchased and shipped to factory Bisley's to John and a year and $6000 later I had this nice matched set.

This gun is light enough to pack anywhere and packs enough punch to stop even the largest of North America's game. This is my preferred horse packing gun.

Dwayne, those are some great looking Bisleys. I shot with John in OK, a couple of years ago, it was a great time.

Shooting the Bisley w John Linebaugh

John sure is a walking talking Encyclopedia of ballistics isn't he?

I have a very good friend who is a Saddle maker in Cody, WY. He made the holster in the photos. John lives just to the north of Cody a few miles. For his privacy I will simply say that I met him near his home and we left my truck and trailer full of horses at the school while we went to a nearby canyon he takes a lot of of folks to. I blew through two cases of high powered and mild loads in his personal gun. I tried to pay John for the ammo but he refused. I was so impressed I bought two Stainless Bisley's back in Cody at the gun shop next door to my Saddle maker and then shipped them to John.

A year later I was standing on the corner of Sheridan Ave in Cody and this guy pulls up and yells out of his truck, "Hey mister wanna buy some guns"! It was John!

John's son Dustin has rejoined the family business and production improved. Dustin made the grips on both guns. We took the newly completed guns to the Cody range and had ourselves some serious fun. These are magnificent revolvers!

The guy who custom made my knife also turned out to be from Cody, so we all headed over to the Proud Cut Saloon has had some steaks before heading over to the saddle shop where these guys were together for the first time despite living only a few minutes apart!

From left to right

Dustin Linebaugh, Keith Seidel, John Linebaugh, Dennis Friedly and their collective pieces they made for me over a years time.

.38 special in the magnificent bisley is a disservice

Actually, .357 bisley is kinda the same thing. Get your bisley in a larger bore. They shoot the big bullets so well and make it so easy on the shooter too.
One of the best handguns out there in my opinion.

Since my last post in this thread i've added a few more Bisleys.

The Acusports:

Will add more! :)

This one started life as a New Model Super Blackhawk. I did the Bisley conversion myself. First conversion I've done; probably won't be the last! Oh ... .44 mag, by the way.
