Anyone know how they lock the rotating band to the shell itself? Seems like it's got to be a pretty solid joint to get that shell rotating. Is it keyed to the shell itself? Or just crimped down real tight? Seems like superglue or Elmer's wouldn't do the trick. :)

Bruce, from left to right:

.22LR
.22WMR
9x19mm
.45ACP
.38 Spl
.327 Fed Magnum?
.30 Carbine
7.62x39mm
5.56x45mm
.270
7.62x54r
.30-06 Spr.
.50BMG
20mm

Am I right?

The 5th from the right is not .270 if the 3rd from the right is .30-06. So I assume one of those is wrong, probably the .270.

I'm going to go with 357wheelgun on the winmag, the other i have no clue.

This may not have been the origional intent of the thread, but i think many enjoy the guessing the caliber.

Here's my collection. Small, but I shot all these with the exception of two towards the right. Most of these are the first round of each caliber that i shot. Numbers added for clarity since i had more than i realised.

I pulled these out of the safe for a quick pick. Bad phone pix, but it was dark. This is are a small sample of the SHTF APIT rounds for my AR-50.

I think bruce333's picture is

.22LR
.22WMR
9x19mm
.45ACP
.38 Spl
.327 Fed Magnum?
.30 Carbine
7.62x39mm
5.56x45mm
.284 win
7.62x54r
.30-06 Spr.
.50BMG
20mm

The 5th from the right doesn't have a belt so it can't be the win mag, and if it were the win mag it would be significantly longer than the 7.62x54r.

I'll guess for Bruces pic:

.22LR
.22WMR
9x19mm
.45ACP
.38 Spl
7.62 nagant
.30 Carbine
7.62x39mm
5.56x45mm
7.5x55mm
7.62x54r
.30-06 Spr.
.50BMG
20mm

OK,

Here are a few that you don’t see that often.

Some more common cartridges shown for size reference.

Left to Right

.50 Caliber BMG (Factory dummy cartridge)
.50 Caliber Spotter (I was informed that this was for a .50 caliber Spotting Rifle mounted on the 106mm Recoiless Rifle. Though I have no way to verify this)
.30-’06 Springfield (Home made dummy cartridge for function checking firearms)
3” 12 gauge magnum
1 ¾” Aguila 12 gauge Mini Shell
223 Remington / 5.56mm, Yup it is a brass case head with a polymer case body. Here is some info about it:

Auburn1992 has them labeled right. I was lazy to label them myself, figured someone would help me out.

I wish I knew what happened to my 40mm rounds, I could have sworn I kept those...had to leave the 500 lb bomb casings behind when I moved to NC along with a bunch of other stuff...or I could have given rcmodel a run...

When i was a lot younger i could have given you guys a run for your money. i used to collect bullets i had almost 1 or 2 from almost every gun available. This was about 20 years ago. i was an autoparts manager and i use to keep them lined up on my desk. a lot of my employees and even some leo used to bring them to me when they found out i collected them. i even had some talons some hard to get and maybe ilegal stuff too. I remember one time we had this guy we were going to bust for passing out fake checks. Well i called the local police and they sent out two detectives. We went into my office. talked about the case then they asked about the ammo. Told them i collected it. They immediately asked if i had the guns for the ammo. I told them no i just collect them. Well they started to look at them and then they got really interested in them. they said that some were defenately not legal. however since i collected them they did not have a problem with them. I even asked them for a round of theirs. Well a few days later one of them came buy and handed me two bullets. Years went by. Half of them i gave way or took apart and disgarded them. As i just lost the interest.

Funny thing about me guessing the 7.5x55mm correct. I went to the range yesterday and saw some brass on the ground that I'd never seen befoe. I decided to pick up a few of the brass pieces for the hell of it.

Well can you guess what it is? Yep 7.5x55mm. I was puzzled but then looked at the brass and put one and one together.

Unless you were in NJ, I'd bet that ignorance on their part was much more likely than you actually having anything illegal.

Great pics guys, but can we get some labels on all the pics. I'm tryin to ID a lot of these cartridges, but I'm not that good, and writing some cryptic caption like "The greatest cartridge ever made in the universe" isn't helping me learn anything.
