I finally bought a Sig P220 Combat TB yesterday, and I picked up a holster to go with it. But the pistol didn't fit in the holster, even though it claimed guns with rails would snug right in there.

After an hour or two of looking around online I can't seem to find a holster, not with any certainty anyway. What's more, I'm very probably going to add a laser/light combo to it. So I'd like a holster which can accommodate that as well. I don't particularly care about materials; leather is fine, synthetic is OK. As long as it can attach to a belt I'll be happy. I saw one "universal MOLLE" type, but I have no idea if you can attach it to your belt.

Oh, one other item: if it happens to have an open end so that I don't need to remove the Gemtech Blackside suppressor every time I want to holster it, that would be a definite bonus.

Would anyone have any ideas? I appreciate it in advance...

Do you want a holster for concealed carry or tactical sort of carry?

If the latter, get a Safariland 6004, or one of the other models that uses the same holster on a belt mount or what not.

Thanks for the info!

I went and looked at the 6004, and it's pretty much what I'd like to get. But the 220 Combat TB has a 5 inch barrel (the normal 220 has a 4.4 inch barrel). That extra .6 inches is the threaded part. Also, from the measurements I've been able to find, the rails on the 220 Combat are wider than the 220R (which is the only 220 I've been able to find mention of on holster manufacturer's web sites).

Over the weekend I found a generic nylon holster that fits so-so, but without a light. It'll do for a while. I think I might find a leather guy here in town and see about having a holster made custom. I can have it shaped such that it'll fit with a light mounted, and then have it open-ended so that if I happen to have the suppressor on it I can still holster it.

The search continues...

How could the rails on the Combat be wider than on the 220R? If they're any wider they wouldn't be standard rails and nothing would fit on them. The Safariland 6004 is open bottom so the extra barrel length would be no problem. I don't think it would be open enough to take the gun w/suppressor though.

The 220 Combat is more built up in the dust cover area and the rails are machined to a true pitcany (I know I spelled that one wrong) spec. The 220R has a version of the rail that is not as beefy and isn't quite spec. It is good enough that most items fit, but it isn't true to the specs.

Holsters for the 220R are often too small for the 220 Combat. I'd be willing to bet the safariland will fit, but you may want to try before buying.

What USP said, John. I bought a Serpa made for the 220R figuring that it was the same size as the 220 Combat. No dice.

I'm going to try the Safariland. If that doesn't fit, I'll find a custom leather guy.
