Some very nice pics in this thread! Keep them coming, folks!

OP wanted pics of cartridges next to each other, with descriptions, so...

Here's some of it:

small_stuff_1.jpg

Top shelf: U.S., .50 cal and up

2nd shelf: Foreign, .50 cal and up, and shotgun shells

3rd shelf: 20mm's

4th shelf: up to 30mm

Bottom: up to 57mm

and some other stuff:

other_stuff_1.jpg

Top shelf: 40mm and other launched grenades

2nd Shelf: under .50 Cal

3rd shelf: submunitions

4th shelf: hand grenades and short arty casings

Bottom shelf: arty shells and casings

Right side: some rocket launchers and rockets

The rest of the stuff (coupla dozen mortar shells, more rockets and launchers, mines, fuzes, small caliber ammo, barrel sections, bigger arty up to 203mm) is "decorating" the house. Or so I've been trying to convince the wife. :uhoh:

230RN: the groove in a projo under the rotating band is usually heavily knurled. The rotating band is swaged on, often with hydraulic pressure in a crimp die, then trimmed to the proper dimensions. They usually stay put pretty well. :) If you want I can post pics of various projos with the rotating band grooves exposed.

FIFTYGUY :what: :what: :what:

You win hands down ! That is an incredible collection.

I've seen less munitions on display in a museum.

But I have to ask. Aren't you worried that one day someone is going to have a heart attack when they see all this stuff.

All of it looks inert to me but what if something happens to you and someone has to go in to your house to organize your belongings? (Not wishing anything happen to you of course.)

Regards,
Rob

After 45 Auto I think it's a rimmed .45 short of some sort. There's one up earlier in the thread, and would that last one be 9x18mm Makarov?

The far left isn't a "20mm" at all; it's a 30x113B, the ubiquitous round for the M230 "chain gun" on Apache Helicopters and revolver cannon on many European fighters. Nice and shiney case!

The "50mm" is the 12.7x76mm .50 "Spotter" for the M8/C semi-auto spotting rifles on US 106mm Recoilless Rifles.

The one to the right of the 7.62 NATO ... maybe another 7.62 NATO?

The one to the right of the .223 might be a 7.62x39 soft point?

The one to the right of the .44 Rem Mag might be a .30 Carbine?

The one to the right of the .45 ACP is a .455 Webley Revolver?

I agree with Rugerlvr that the far right is probably a 9x18 Makarov.

Hope that helps... I'm not so good with the "small" stuff.

Rob62: My ammo collection is all over the place (anti-tank gun magazines on top of the kitchen cabinets opposite my wife's lunchbox collection, for example) so visitors pretty much get a "continuous" heart attack if they're surprised. Munitions are only one hazard: You kinda have to "tiptoe through the various lethal objects" to get anywhere in my house.

Everything is catalogued in a spreadsheet, and we have contigencies for its dispersal in the event of my untimely demise. Many of the items are live, but none are DD's or illegal.

Hey Fiftyguy,
If you ever want to swap some .50 rounds let me know.;)

I'm always looking for a head stamp that I don't have or a .50 round that I don't have either.

Hi Fiftyguy – many thanks for the info and in particular the ID on the 30x113B.

Also many thanks to RugerLvr and ZeSpectre for your advice.

Very much appreciated!
