Does any gun manufacturer make a .22LR semi-auto pistol that holds more than 10 rounds? Something about the size of a full-size semi-auto. I think a .22 pistol that holds 25-30 rounds might be something I'd like to have, for plinking at the range if nothing else.

Is there something about the .22LR that makes this impractical or impossible? Is there just no demand for it?

Probably the closest you'll find to what you seek would be the old Grendel P-30 in .22 Magnum with it's 32 round grip magazine.
I think most of the other hi-cap .22's are of larger sizes...such as:
I have an Intratec Tec-22 pistol which uses Ramline 10-22 type banana magazines. It comes with a 30-round, but can use the 25 and 50 round ones also. Yes, I am aware of the Tec-22's checkered reputation. Mine happens to run well.
There are the large pistols from Volquartsen and Ruger based on the 10/22 rifle which accept anything from 10 to 50 round magazines.
Kel-Tec's new PLR-22 .22LR pistol has I think a 25 round magazine.
The old Charter Arms Explorer II pistol had 15 round and 25 round mags made for it.
Then there is the Calico M100P pistol...100 rounds ;)

Rimmed cartridges don't play nice in conventional pistol mags once you get past 10 or so.

Not long ago, I was thinking about this very topic. As I thought about it, three .22 pistol designs popped into my mind. Those pistols are the Ruger Charger, the Kel-Tec PLR-22 and the Calico M-110. The Calico holds 100 rounds in an unusual magazine configuration.

None of these three pistols are conventional semi-autos as a quick visual inspection of them reveals. But it is interesting to speculate how these high capacity .22s might operate in a self-defense setting. I hope my musings help.

Most of the high capacity suggestions are huge guns.

I don't want to put words in the mouth of the originator of this thread, but I wonder if he was interested in more regular pistol sized guns that are more than 10 rounds?

I wish they would make a pistol with a double stack magazine.

Double stack magazines would be too unreliable with 22s. High cap single stack magazines like the ones you see for the 10/22 are too large and curved for a pistol.
