Pakistani 303 ammo

From what I've read, there is a tendency for hang-fires and misfires. I have no personal experience with it though.

Garbage, avoid.

Much of it wasn't properly stored. I've seen it with veridigris on the cases and in one box, had several duds and hangfires.

I cannot find it, but I remember seeing a post (somewhere) where a guy posted pictures of his blown up Lee Enfield. The ammunition: Pakistani.

Overal, this ammunition has a poor reputation.

It goes bang............eventually.

It is garbage except for the stripper clips it comes on.

Most of it fires about half a second after you pull the trigger. Opening the bolt on a round that did not fire will make you pretty nervous, but at least with the enfield you can re cock and strike again without rotating the bolt.

SOME is crap, and it tarnishes (pun intended) the reputation of the rest. Buy by the case, and inspect the case. If it's still sealed, the stuff is pretty decent for what it is. I get it for $13/30 at my local gunshops fresh from sealed cases that were properly stored.

I actually decided to get an Enfield in .308 because of the lack of decent .303 surplus. From what I've read, the Pakistani is the worst.

If you can examine the ammo before purchase, you can find decent Paki surplus. I buy mine from a gunshow dealer who repacks it into clear sealed bags- which helps with examination.

I've given it three chances since the Greek HXP .303 surplus dried up, and there is no way I'm giving it a fourth chance. The stuff is garbage. Long hang fires, at the minimum I was getting a 1 in 5 DUD ratio (!), and constant splitting of the brass, or whole pieces of the brass nearly blowing out. HORRIBLE stuff...

I got lucky, I guess, with the case of Paki that I bought years ago. Hearing all of the stories of the hang fires and duds. Mine is in large cardboard boxes and I've been forunate that it's always fired as soon as I pulled the trigger. I've got a little S&B also and will start loading for my No.4 MkII since it's too nice for the surplus stuff.

I,ve used various surplus ammo over the years and the Pakistani stuff is not the best. Finally after picking up more Brit guns I went to reloading and making my own ammo, the benifit is you can custom make a load for a particular gun and know its gonna work. Also not having to worry who has the best deal on surplus shells , plus shipping is a nice thing.

Here's the skinny on the Pakistani .303 British. It works, although I have timed a 3 second delay between trigger strike and "bang". It also smells like someone's taken some sewage marinated underwear that's had a wetdog lying on it for 4 days, and lit it on fire.

Avoid this ammo if possible. I gave mine away to a guy for reloading components.

They don't call it "Click...Bang" ammo for nothing.

I've got news for you.With the price of .308 and 7.62 NATO these days you can shoot new .303 British for not much more in price.

The ammunition you asked about is not junk; however, if you are in a situation where your life hangs on the dependability of your ammo, you need to think twice about relying on Paki .303 berdan primed ammunition.

It must have been batches, as the last importation before the current stuff was terrible. I would get click bang, click.........bang. Click.............................cock click..........bang or click..................................cock click..............................%^$&#%^$.............................

Though it is wonderful for training good trigger discipline and careful shooting (as well as getting rid of flinch). My Paki was as bad as my Yugo 7.62x25.
