What is your primary carry pistol...Why?

oh yeah, i forgot to answer the why part.

642 because it is just so easy to conceal. it goes every where i can legally carry it.

Well, right now........

The last 5 years or so, I've been carrying a Ruger SP101, .357 magnum,
2.25", every day.
I also sometimes instead carry a Ruger GP100, 3", ,357 magnum. Usually they are loaded with 145gr. Silvertips.
I never feel under-gunned with either. I c'n do what needs to be done with them.

I, in the past, carried a .45acp Colt 1991A1 Commander, for a few years.
Before that it was a Makarov 9mm Mak, a few years.
Before that it was a Taurus model 85, 2", .38 special.

The main thing with each weapon you carry, is to know your gun, know your load. Know you can hit your mark, with enough power to do the job.
After that's covered, don't fret about it.

I chose my carry guns based on the questions I know I'll be asking myself after I've used it to defend myself or loved ones. Especially those questions I'll have if things didn't go well. Examples:

- Did I have a gun that was always reliable in the past?
- Was there anything about the gun that made me unsure, for example was the grip too small, were the sights hard to align?
- Was the caliber the biggest and most powerful I could handle accurately and repeatably?
- Was I carrying it in a way where I could get to it without fumbling or having it blocked by clothing?

Basically, were all the possible loose ends taken care of before an encounter or was I dishonest with myself about anything?

My personal response is, I carry a Sig 229 in .40S&W or my 1911A1 Yost 1* in .45ACP.

I carry EAA (Tanfoglio) full size .45 witness steel...

Why...because that is what I have.

I carry a S&W 457 45acp as primary...bug is a Rossi 462 /357Mag 6 shot

Yes I feel very safe with my choice....

Colt 1991 compact 45. Virtually every day for over 25 years, unless I'm in an area prohibited to carry in.

Why?
1. Because I can.
2. The sheep in the world still need the sheepdog.
3. I've seen the local law enforcement people shoot.

It's pathetic. For someone whose life is on the line and who is in very high likelyhood of actually having to use their weapon, they seem to have a built in adversion to becoming a proficient shooter with their handgun. I have shot Bullseye competitively on a local, state, and national level for 9 years and have not seen one law enforcement BE shooter in this state. I know that is not the case everywhere. I have met some great law enforcement Bullseye shooters at Camp Perry. I just wish the local guys would put in more practice time than just to qualify.

S&W 37-2, bobbed hammer, rides in my front pocket every single day. Carry it because it fits in my pocket, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger, and it has enough power to get the job done.
When I wear shorts or cargo pants with larger pockets, I carry a Glock 27. Again, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger, lots of power, and I shoot it fairly well.

My primary pistola is a Sig P220 with the DAO trigger. I carry it in a Bell, Charter, and Oak holster. I feed it 230gr Winchester "Black Talon"(yep, I stashed a bunch of the stuff before it became un-PC).
It carries well for a pistol it's size, has never had a malfunction of any type, and is more accurate than I am. I chose the DAO because with a lot of time and reps with 1911's, revolvers, and Glocks in other lives I liked the idea of a consistent trigger press. Besides, being a bit of a klutz, I could never get that whole de-cocking thing down 100%.

My BUG, and sometimes hot weather primary, is a Magna-Port tuned and ported S&W 342 with Speer Gold Dots. I carry it in either a Bell, Charter, and Oak crossdraw holster(not an advertisement, I just like Lefty's handiwork) or an Uncle Mike's pistol pocket.

I've pretty much settled on the Kahr MK-9 Elite 98.

It's 9mm and fits well in the pocket.

Also, it's accurate, and reliable.

The Holster is a DeSantis Nemesis.

I have a brand new double pocket mag pouch, but I have not had time to take pics!!

I have a TN HCP and I do EDC. Primary is S&W 642 in summer and S&W 640 in winter. Both are pocket carry. In cold weather I wear Perry suspenders and sweater or clean sweat shirt over suspenders. In deep winter I can switch to G23 in deep pocket cords and suspender/sweater rig along with coat or jacket. Outer carpet keeps prying eyes out of your open pocket! Pleated corduroys really do the job of covering up outline in pocket.

Weight, simplicity of operation and reliability are the main factors for carrying any one of these three pistols.

Beretta 92G

1. Because I have more training with it than I do with the toilet
2. Standard issue
3. Nothing better than a well-used Beretta

My primary pistol normally is my M&P 40 compact. It is the right size, great trigger, fits my hands, points naturally for me, I enjoy shooting it (very little recoil) and I shoot it very well.

My woods gun primary is my S&W 66-1 2.5". There is just something right backing up a SXS with a revolver in 357! :D

I typically carry my S&W model 36 snubby in .38 spl in a front pocket. I use a cheap pocket holster from sportsmans guide that works great. It's loaded with whatever federal personal defense ammo the gun shop had.

Sometimes I will carry my Taurus model 817 titanium ultralite .38 spl. snubby. It's 7 shot, quite accurate and very light. It fits my IWB and OWB holsters designed for the model 36.

I don't feel under guned with .38 spl because as another poster mentioned; it's better than my fists or the maglite behind the truck seat.

Incidentally either one seem to fit the back pocket of a pair of levis quite well too. The model 36 can also disappear in a winter coat during that time of year.

Oh yeah, the Taurus has never really given me any problems, but for some reason I prefer the S&W, mainly smaller size.

I have a Kahr K9 I carry IWB in a Mitch Rosen (Great leather!) in 9mm JHP. A bit heavy, but I can throw it, if I get into a situation.
Stay Safe!

Favorite is my XD9SC in a Crossbreed Supertuck. Unless my wife will let me have her P3AT. I also carry a Sig P6 in my Uncle Mike's computer case.

Primary: Ruger LCP in a DeSantis Nemesis..........why? It is so concealable that it goes with me virtually everywhere. I even carry it around the house since I tend to forget it is even there.

But......favorite.....Kahr CW45 in a Mitch Rosen 5JR-EXP when I'm casually dressed (Wranglers with golf shirt not tucked) or in a Crossbreed when I'm formally dressed (Wranglers with shirt tucked in)......Why? STOPPING POWER.:fire:
