Yep I know they are one in the same but I see prices for P6s at $329 and now I have seen a like new 225 for $329. What is going on with these guns? The 225 used to be a high dollar handgun and now it's down with the Police tradeins. Is it worth it to buy the 225 since they are so cheap???

jim

Is it worth it to buy a GMC Tahoe or a Chevrolet Tahoe?

The P6 has a majorly strong mainspring in it, compared to the P225. Some folks don't like that, but I find it works great in a defensive pistol (it's only for the first shot, anyway).

The P6 has contract markings.

They both run the same, buy what appeals to you.

Why is it the price has come down so far on the 225? I found a made in Germany 225 with Sig Arms INC Hernadon VA in pristeen condition for the same price that they are selling the police guns for. Just seems odd because I remeber seeing Sig 225s for $495 a few years back, now they are $329.

Absolutely. I love the P225, is probably my favorite automatic. Size and ergonomics are right on. Perfectly dependable. Doesn't have that ugly hammer hook thing the P6 variant does.

I'm guessing the price fell because people are getting wise to the fact that P6 = P225 basically, and there's not much reason to pay a hundred bucks or more for the same pistol with different markings, different mainspring which is easily changed, and no ugly hook-thing on the hammer.

I would advise a little caution. I've seen vendors selling German police-trade P6's as P225's and not mentioning the fact that they are P6's. So people think they are getting a retail P225 for the price of a P6. Now, you're not getting anything more or less than what you paid for- but know what you are buying ahead of time!

Yes, all P6's are P225's but not all P225's are P6's... a good example would be buying a Ford Crown Victoria at a car lot- if they do not disclose it was a P71 Police Pursuit package car that was used as a State Police cruiser for 6 years, would you be upset if you bought it thinking it was a retail Crown Vic? What if you bought it thinking it was a retail Crown Vic but paid the price for an ex-police cruiser? Would you be disappointed that you didn't get a "steal of a deal"?

Just food for thought.

Where are ya'll finding 225's for $3-400? I see the P6's at the local Gander, but no 225's. I would like a genuine 225 - fits my hand like a glove.

Sig P-6

We've sold over 40 P-6s since Jan. They have been offered in three grades - used, used v. good and excellent. The last batch we got were excellent - they show signs of having been test fired, but virtually no signs of being holster carried - barrels show minimal blue loss and bottom of bolts show no scoring from hammer reset and one of the two magazines included shows no rim drag lines. P-6s are pretty difficult to sell as P225s as the finish on the P-6 slide is matte blue and the hammer is of the W. German open hooked design. Also, all the P-6s have the manufacture date on the front right of the slide and lots of acceptance and proof marks in various places on the slide, barrel and frame. I've side by sid compared a slightly used P225 with a P6 - not much different in trigger pull DA nor SA, controls are all in the same place, mags interchange, barrels will interchange, etc. P-6s, in my opinion, are an excellent value that will be hard to beat.

Well I went ahead and bought it after thinking a bit. It's a great gun and fits my hand well. Took it apart to clean it and it seemed to have not been shot much, no wear signs on the rails and just a bit on the barrel.

What are mags running for these now??

As to selling P6's as P225's for example- anyone check out CDNN Investment's recent catalog?

I haven't seen so many "RARE"s in one place that wasn't describing Roast Beef...

I see P6's being listed as P225's all the time on many sites. Caveat emptor is in order to make sure you're getting what you pay for...

While still a great deal, that’s a P6 and may have the plain black sights and a barrel that’s not ramped for hollow points.

Quick hijack, how does a P6 feel in hand compared to a P226? Held the 226 today and it's pretty nice. If the P6 is pretty similar, just a bit smaller(looks that way), then I may need to jump on one.

The 225 is a single stack magazine so the grip is smaller. I have small hands and the gun feels good, I can even reach the trigger.

My friend bought one of the $300 used P6's. It's okay, but I personally would rather spend another $150 for a brand new Sig Pro 2022.

I personally don't like the polymer Sigs. If I were going to spend another $150 ($450 total) It would be on a XD service 4"

AIM doesn't screw you for the extra magazine. $270 (Closer to $300 with taxes and fees) buys you a Sig P6, two factory mags and a leather holster along with a box of some kind. (I got a cardboard one with foam lining, but YMMV)

Fantastic buy, I'll probably use mine for CCW when I get my permit.

Just Jim, where did you find the P225 for $329?
