who makes the best ar-15

Your dpms is fine for what you use it for. Take it out shooting with someone who knows what they are doing.

Asking what brand is the best is like asking "who makes the best car?". You are going to get a lot of varying answers. Your DPMS is like a honda, nothing special, but plenty good for %95 of us.

so wait...after shipping, your rifle was five bucks UNDER its ticket price? Or...did you mean it cost 770...775 after shipping?

Either way, what...? Average shipping for anything over five pounds and over 250 bucks (i.e. your rifle) is at least 20 bucks.

DPMS is fine. Aftermarket parts will fit it.
Be aware that there are commercial buffer tubes and there are mil-spec buffer tubes. Should you ever decide to change the stock, you will need to know which style buffer tube (AKA: Receiver Extension) you have. Of course you can replace a commercial buffer tube with a mil-spec one if need be.

Brownells and MidwayUSA have catalogs featuring AR-15 parts and accessories.

Edit: Looks like the chart shows the DPMS model listed has a 1.17" diameter receiver extension (buffer tube), known as a commercial buffer tube. Other DPMS models may or may not have this. 1.14" is mil-spec.

Only one company makes the AR and thats Armalite.
That's only half true.

Armalite makes the AR-10, which fires .308 Winchester and similar sized rounds. Their "small" rifle is the M-15.

Colt makes the AR-15. Browsing their site, they only come in .223/5.56 and 9mm.

Similar, but different.

Your DPMS is a fine gun, and will not rust or break just because it's not deemed to be 'as good as' LMT, Colt, Noveske, CMMG, etc. You're talking about splitting hairs in quality. They will all last for multiple generations if you take halfway good care of them - keep them oiled and don't store them out in the yard.

All you need to do is find a range to shoot at, and shoot it! Shoot it safely I might add. Quite clearly you are a teenager, so make sure that you know and understand the safety rules before shooting. Don't start out your sub-adult gun-owning life with a mishap/injury:

to answer the question on the ammo i am using i have none.never felt like buying any unless i was gonna go shoot it. wich is going to be next weekend with a few freinds who better leave the alchohol at home thanks for your veiws and opionions.to give the best discription of what kind of gun owner i am.i barly graduated and failed grammar ever year of my life or passed with a d.and like most of my freidns are with their cars they buy cars and know almost nothing about them other than a year and name.me i just no the names of my guns and the calibers.all of them rusted up besides the mossberg the tiger and the ar15. i still dont know how it got under my bed. i bought many poorly made guns because they were cheap and i am an impuse buyer whos not very smart(as you can all tell)the beta c mag i got was 1 of the older ones with the metal backing that you cant see through unlike the newer ones.i got that at a garage sale.and thats when my gun colecting began.my mossberg tiger(if i got it fixed) and ar are the only good guns i have. thankyou for your time.

to sum it up its like a car colecter who knows nothign about the cars he buys but only buys them because he thinks they look cool

thats sexy btw by troy sight is that the kind of site or the brand.and....whats a varmit kit. i think i spelled that right i went to a gunshop today to ask about ar-15 addons and he showed me a varmit kit wich looks a little diffrent.the barrels diffrent and sos the foregrip and theres a rail to put a sight on

Troy is the brand name of the sight.

Since varmints are usually pretty small animals, they require a more accurate rifle.
Varmint rifles usually have thick and heavy barrels and some way of attaching a scope.
