My CCW was outed today...

Locals REALLY do need to retaliate in a legal and shockingly enlightening way.

I'm sure Ms.Walters is very proud of her investigative piece.

Everybody listed in that article should pay her a a personal visit and let her know how they feel about it.

Was the journalists name on the list? Then I would do what another suggested post the pic name and address of the journalist everywhere possible, and comment on what an easy target they would be for a mugging or home invasion since they dont have anyway to defend themselves. Or even stop by her house and place an election style sign in her yard.

Of the 652 CCW holders listed in the article, I wonder, how many are members of pro-gun organizations such as Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment Foundation or even that other gun group which claims to represent all american gun owners then bargins with the antis? It might be worth while to print up about 650 GOA membership applications and mail them out to everyone listed. If you own a gun and have gone through the trouble of getting a CCW permit then you should be kept up to date on what the antis are doing.

The way you get an editor in trouble is thru the newspapers advertisers. Sit down and calmly write to each and every one of them explaining that you will no longer buy any of their products while they use that paper for their advertising. Get your friends and relatives to do the same. Newspapers are in business to make money. The publisher, when hit in the pocketbook, will take care of that writer and editor. Nothing talks louder then lost revenue to a newspaper.

South Carolina made it against the law to do that. Some jerk asked through freedom of information act and the legislature stomped it.

though the posting all their info is good. we had a local paper who eased off a bit when all their info was made public. they publish a list of names but no longer street address

when the paper in va did it one of the folks who was affected was the lady hiding from the abusive husband . he saw her name was able to find her again she had to move with the kids again find that article and bring it up possibly in a rival paper

FOIA ends where it starts infringing on private citizens personal information.

Why don't we try getting a FOIA for a list of everyone under witness protection? Huh? Oh right, because if their names were made public it wouldn't do much good to be in that program now would it?

What was the point that the journalist was trying to make? What does publishing such information supposedly accomplish? Is he trying to bully CCW holders into abandoning their right to carry out of fear of invasion of privacy or what?

Send them a LIST of your own. People who will no longer buy their paper.

Under the same Freedom of information. Get any and all information about her Post it everywhere. Even rent a bill board and post it there. For about $50.00
you can get a total report about her.

just freaking STUPID! the "journalist" should be fired, at the VERY least, AND THE EDITOR IS NO BETTER. does she not have a clue how much danger she could be putting these people in? she has litterally made each and every one of these folks a target for violent criminals. i would post on their comment link, but in order to do that, i have to give them my e-mail address. i dont want somebody that stupid to have my contact information!

You businessmen in the community need to pull your advertising. Everyone else, since you're already public knowledge, encourage others to pull their ads. Boycott the ones who don't. Adv. pays the bills, sale of papers often is in the red.

when the free lance star did it someone got the editors home number posted it suggested calling to tell em how you feel with the note on the end "don't worry he stays up late" they cut back the published info a bit to make it harder to target folks still publish the list along with a ton of other similar lists divorces etc

That newspaper is pathetic to endanger ccw permit holders to further their anti-gun agenda. I hope that people boycott the newspaper by simply not buying it and pulling their ads. Also I hope that people ban together to hire a PI to dig up dirt on the reporter then post the info and picture everywhere. I also posted my comments on their website.

This "journalist " need a dose of the same treatment. Someone should post his personal info to the web and see how he likes it.Name,address,tel #s, tax returns,loans,family info etc.

Thats why getting a permit is a bad idea carrying without a permit is the way to go if you dont wish your private info going public.

Texas did the same thing. At first, the information was available but the process was a bit complicated and the license holder would be informed abut the inquiry. It wasn't an issue until Canon USA told their employees that they couldn't carry at work and that they would have to report their license status to the company. The company would access public records and fire employees who did not comply. The legislature privitized the records in the next session.

Some people just need to get smacked in the mouth. This "journalist" has been added to the list.

I just sent them a response. Sounds like it is time to have a meeting with your local rep's in the General Assembly. CCW permitees should not be subject to exposure like this.
