Friends,
In the monthly NRA 1st Freedom Magazine, there is some important information outlining Barack Obama's ten point anti-gun plan, cards to distribute to friends, AND an introductory offer for a 1 year free NRA membership. The phone number for the offer is 877-672-4680.

I will spare you the 10 point plan to keep this from getting locked, but just know that it's completely anti-gun rights and ownership.

The NRA was a major player (the extent of which is disputable) in Parker and Heller, and is pushing to eliminate anti-gun laws and get incorporation of the 2A in California and Illinois. This is a critical step and it's important to become a member and give to the NRA.

i just called this offer is for a 3 month trial. i went ahead and signed up. i got a mail offer yesterday for a $25 membership with a free multi tool, magazine, and chance to win 21 guns. so i guess i will do that here shortly, but as of now im a new member

Thank you for the information. I am a 3 month member now as well. I'm sure I will become a full member once I receive my material!

More NRA shenanigans.

A 3-month trial membership will make those who take advantage of it members just long enough to carry us through the elections, and allow the NRA to proclaim an artificially-inflated membership when they talk to the next session of Congress.

Phooey. I was a member. After the bait-n-switch they tried to pull on me at renewal time, I don't even want a free membership. The NRA is a bunch of self-serving pond scum.

And you're entitled to your opinion. But what have you done for the 2nd Amendment lately?

Also, all my brothers are getting signed up as we speak, as well as most of my neighbors. Hopefully they'll stick around longer than for the free trial.

While I don't feel quite that strongly, I also have some contempt for the NRA. To me, they are nothing more than a fund-raising lobbying group at this point.
I don't need to be told how to vote. Along with 2nd amendment rights, I have other issues I worry about.
I am a member, but I refused the magazine and got a $10 yearly membership. I don't know if I'll renew, but I had to be a member of a 2nd amendment rights group for a local organizations membership.

Like the NRA or not, I think without them we'd not have the firearms freedom we enjoy today.
It takes money for them to be the influential lobbyist that they are.
I have no regrets about my membership.

Well, I just sent in my NRA Life Membership (should have done it 20 years ago - would've save a few hundred $$).

Yes, I have some disagreements with them - but they are the only game in town (read that: Washington), and they have the clout gun owners need to combat alot of the abuses dreamed up by the anti-gun blissninnies.

And yes, they are a Lobbying group; but they are also the leading providers of firearms education in this country (I went thru their Hunter Safety course in 1974). Many of you wouldn't have your CCW or hunting license if it wasn't for an NRA - trained Instructor; most police and armed security agencies require their instructors to be NRA Certified. I'm an NRA Range Saftey Officer; next time you're at your favorite indoor/outdoor range, find out where the range officer got his or her training.

OK - I'm not trying to sell anyone on the NRA if they don't want to join; just be aware that it is alot more than a bunch of people hanging around D.C. eating lunch with fatcat politicians. They do alot more for the American gun owning public.

I just purchased a Ruger LCP and it included an offer of $10 off of a one year membership. In years past Taurus would offer a free one year membership with a gun purchase. I wound up giving a couple of those away.

free offers are great but......

Your duty and obligation as a responsible gun owner is to SUPPORT those orgs. that fight for our rights. Just getting a free membership doesn't really help anything. The NRA (as well as other orgs.) need your FINANCIAL support as well. It costs a lot to pay lobbyists and keep us informed.

Pay your dues and be a real member.

To the OP, Im about to rain on your parade-

The NRA did EVERYTHING in its power to PREVENT Heller from even being heard by SCOTUS, so they didnt play a major roll in it unless that roll was against it!

Now in their defense, they have been aggressive after the fact, but they didnt help it at all when it was being considered

just FYI

I am a PROUD NRA Member, and have been for many years. If it wasn't for the NRA, we would probably have almost NO gun rights by now. (Think Canada, Australia or England)

Keep up the good work. The NRA is all we have to fight for our 2A rights. That and obviously sending emails to our lawmakers which I hope everyone is doing.

:)
