Velcro

Uncle Mikes makes a good one. Have the strap sewn where the thumb snap does not work or have a new strap made. Use Velcro on the strap to secure the weapon. Lesson learned the hard way - I was chasing a perp one night a few years ago and my back-up came out of my ankle holster when the thumb snap popped open. I got my gun, but sliding across the side walk did not help the finish.

Another vote for Uncle Mike. I am not LE but wear my ankle rig REGULAR. Excellent backup. I wear a very thin knee sock. Put the holster on that sock then my regular sock goes over the holster. Dont need the garter. It never slides down, If pants ride up a little sock is all that shows.
Some like em. Some dont. I like mine.

Incredibly comfortable, has a sheepskin backing that is really nice. Supports a calf strap if you need it. Quality leather with good retention - and has an optional boot extender too.

Galco is another option, but I'd get an Alessi first if I was going to go that route. I'm using a Galco now, can't stand Uncle Mike's, wish I had an Alessi and I'm ordering a Renegade because my Galco is worn out after six years of almost daily use. I've used Renegade before, and prefer it.

I use an Alessi about 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, which was recently upped to 13 to 18 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week, during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. I carry a Ruger SP101 snubby, a heavy weapon which is a true test of an ankle rig's excellence.

I usually wear the rig over the shaft of a laced boot, but during the hurricane, those boots got wet, and took a week to dry, so I wore shoes, with the ankle rig directly against my sock-covered leg.

BikerRN and Rexter beat me to it. Alessi. This one isn't really debateable, IMO.

There are several good belt rig makers out there. There are also several good ankle rig makers. But there is a reason the Alessi rigs are on the high side of one hundred. They're that good.

10-12 hours a day now for about 8 years with my sp101. It's even been submerged a time or two by mistake. Let it air dry and it was good as new.

I tried a few of the 50-60 dollar rigs. Didn't hold securly enough, even with a calf strap. The Alessi manages it with ease, without a calf strap or a thumb break.

And if you're wondering-

NOT ONCE has the gun come out of that rig on accident, and there are a few times I really wonder how it didn't.
