So I just found out the neighborhood I live in isn't the best in the world. No, nothing happened to me, but I would like any suggestions you may have as to the best self defense books to get. Especially on handling home invasions, pistolcraft, personal awareness, etc.

+1 on Ayoob.

+1 on Mark "Animal" McYoung.

and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. (No, I am not joking.)

No bad suggestions so far- I would add:

http://www.paladin-press.com/product/772/27
THE absolute basic starting place IMHO for everyone becoming aware that their world is not all fuzzy bunnies, butterflies, Santa and tooth fairies.

http://www.nrastore.com/nra/Product.aspx?productid=PB+01781
The textbook for the basic course on Personal Protection In The Home. Taking the class is a better idea IMHO- locate an instructor near you at http://www.nrahq.org/education/training/basictraining.asp . If you can't find the class close to you, the DVD presentation is available at http://materials.nrahq.org/go/product.aspx?productid=ES 26840 .

A DVD, not a book, but some useful material delivered by one of my favorite trainers.

As to useful websites, I would add http://www.defense-training.com/quips/quips.html to the list already posted.

Stay Safe,

lpl
