Beretta 92FS (9mm) vs. Springfield Armory XD9 (9mm)

I couldn't be happier with my XD 9s (Service and Sub Compact). I carry my SC a lot and shoot it a fair amount. I carry my Service a bit and shoot it a ton. I keep my SC clean and maintained since I carry it. I don't clean my Service often, and I don't baby it in the least bit, but it continues to perform flawlessly.

I enjoy my Beretta 92FS

I really like my 92fs - of all the handguns I've handled, it is the most accurate for me. The XD is a great choice as well - can't go wrong with either.

Can't go wrong with either. I considered and shot both when I was shopping for my first handgun. I much preferred the 92FS. It felt better it my hands, seemed more accurate and I preferred the safety features since it was my first handgun.

The 92 gets my vote-though I confess I have no experience with the XD9.

I would be happy with either. If I was looking to CCW it, I would definitely go with the XD over the Beretta though. I find the Beretta a bit large for CCW.

I have both. I use the XD 9 SC for CCW, and the Beretta is upstairs in the bedroom for HD, if needed.

I find I am more accurate with the Beretta, probaly due to the longer barrel, but it is too big to easily conceal, at least for me.

For dependability, either one. Have never had any problems with them. For looks, I would prefer the Beretta. Probably has something to do with it being the first handgun I purchased.

As for your "etc" requirement, I'd categorize logistics, and give a +1 vote for the Beretta.

For any conceivable future, there will be parts and accessories.

i would go with the xd, why? i have 2 and i love em, they are accurate reliable, and fun to shoot. I dislike da/sa guns and i am just not a fan of the 92's. i would choose the xd all day long.

The beretta is a bit more expensive, but it is a really nice looking and very, very easy to shoot pistol. You can also look into the vertec for a different fit. Much better than the xd.

I don't really care for grip safeties or those funky glock like triggers.

I'm a Glock guy, but really like the XD's that I owned in the past.

Give me a XD9 or XD9 Tactical any day over a Beretta 92.

Ive always shot 92s better than my old XD service model. Not to say the XD was innacurate. I think the XD would be far easier to carry and both would be great for HD, but for target practice the 92 would be my choice.

I have no experience with the XD, but bought my first Beretta 92FS in 95. I liked it so much, I bought 2 more.

I have 3 XDs. Don't need the old school, military manual safety of the Beretta.

That's a hard choice...

I've owned both and shot a lot of both...I confess I really did love my Beretta 92...I shot it as well as my favorite customized 1911 right out of the box and it shot very well (nearly as good) It is a little bulky to carry...though I carried it for several weeks daily in a bianchi auto retention pancake....seme basic holster I cary everything in these days (can't recall if it's and 82 or 85 carrylock but I'm not taking it off to look...has the small release paddle...been using the 1911 version of a couple years now and I just love this holster for the $$$ and security you can't beat em) Though asthetically I like a good firm fitted standard pancake these work a little better in the real world once you are used to them.

The XD9 has a sucky finish and too many damn roll pins for my liking...that said I'm carrying a 4" XD9 service right now and put a couple hundred rounds downrange this afternoon with it...I traded it away and trade back for it the other day...so I guess I must like it warts and all...it shoots very well and my GF shoots it a lot more comfortably than my G22...I kinda like the grip better myself (hard for a GLOCK and 1911 guyt to admit) but aside from the Sig like longer (too long) trigger reset and mushy trigger I just LOVE this gun...warts and all it just shoots so well for me...my GF actually shoots it better than I do! But shooting on the move it's really close between the 92 and XD9...I shoot and feel great with both...the XD9 carries a lot better though...either one performs very well at the range. If I bought the XD9 over I'd get the nickel/SS version...but I'll probably just have this one refinished to something tougher at some point. I've got it worn about 25% shiney anyway...which tends to show you like a gun a lot-LOL ...hell I missed it enough I got it back after I traded it off...that probably says as much. The beretta looks cooler...feels better....probably more fun on the range in my book...but I just love the way this XD performs for me and it carries so well...if I could get it with a shorter reset less mush-trigger and tennifer finished it would be perfect!

I can't stand the Beretta's trigger pull, plus it's huge for the caliber.

I know a number of people with XDs, and every one loves them.

Beretta for sure
