Anyone make a 20 inch 6.8SPC upper?

I have an extra Bushmaster wth an 11.5 that I am tired of.


I am thinking about re-uppering it to 6.8 SPC. But I checked the Bushmaster site and they only have 16 inch barrels listed.

SO...

1. I can settle for a 16 inch barreled upper and kept the 5.56 shorty upper.

2. Try to find a 20 inch upper in 6.8 and put a regular buttstock and buffer spring assembly on her. I think a full 20 inch would make the 6.8mm a real critter getter.

3. Sell the whole shorty carbine and just buy a 6.8mm spc from somebody...


I am pondering the cost differences. I have not bought any civilian AR parts for 10 years or so...

Any thoughts???
 
That's interesting. I e-mailed Stag on Friday asking if they could make a 6.8 with a 20 in. barrel. I sort of doubt that they would do a custom since they don't advertise that capability but you never know.
 
Just kinda curious...why do you want to have the 6.8 in 20"??? The gain in fps over the 18" is less than 50fps. The 6.8 SPC was designed originally to be used in 16" barrels or less. Have you had the chance to read the latest test on how the boys over on 68forums.com have wringed out the 6.8?

Because the fit and balance of a regluar M16A2 fits me prefectly. As does the sight radius of the A2.


When they first started fielding M4s in my last branch / unit all of us senoir guys got them first before the kids. All that did was lower the already poor marksmanship score of most of my fellow geezers ,,, AND it marked us as senior targets for snipers. So I went back to my A2 as long as I could.
 
I believe J&T sells 6.8 20" rifles also. I have a 5.56 20" from them, and it's a good upper.

That said, I'm not sure what a 6.8 really offers anyone who isn't going to hunt with it. That's what I'd like one for, if I ever do get one -- and then a Mini-14 is tempting, due to its great handling in the brush.
