I have picked out 3 that I like and was wanting some input on which would be best. all 3 fit my hand perfect so im asking about reliability and accuracy

i would say go with the sa model, i love my sa 1911, and i couldn't be happier with it. Mine has 3k through it and not an issue to date. it is reliabel and accurate, and a fun gun to shoot. nothing wrong with kimber, or colt but i am a loyalist to sa, so if sa is an option i always go too.

I am looking at buying the same model Springfield. I have heard only good things about them. The price is good and the quality is great as far as I have seen.

A Colt is always the right answer!

Fewer MIM parts, accurate, great customer service.

The orginal!

SA is not a bad product either.

Off that list I would have to say the colt. Although, if I were looking for a small carry gun I would look at the glock 30 or 36. Some people just cant handle the grips though. I like them.

I would eliminate the Kimber

no doubt, kimbers are terrible.

(except for how mine never jams, eats all my favorite handloads, weighs 28oz, and shoots 3" groups at 50 yards)

but other than that, ya, they are a total joke.

i voted kimber because i have one, you know, you shot it last time we went to the pistol end of the range.

BUT!!!

if this isnt a testament to the colt 1911, i dont know what is.

you know i dont have one, i have a kimber.

the finest 1911 ive ever owned was a colt. i sold it because i wanted a lightweight carry pistol and bought my kimber.

i miss it everytime i think about it.

this is a kimber owner confession:

a colt is a colt and everything else is everything else.

I sold my kimber and glad I did. Of this list Colt wins Best of the 3.
But look at the Dan Wesson bobtail Its the better choice I have 10 Colts but will carry the DW more.

He never said that they are terrible or that they are a total joke. Relax.

If you can compare the Colt & SA side-by-side, look particularly at how the slide is fit to frame and how the bushing is fitted to barrel & slide (look for gaps). If you are allowed to rack both of them do it. Buy the one that passes this test best.

Kimber has problems with QC, either they are great, or they will be a headache to the owner. Colt & SA will, on average, perform more solidly out of the box.

Dan Wesson would also make a great choice for stainless Govt or Commander pistols.

Get the Colt. It will accept all mil spec parts. It is the only one of your choices that will do that.

The example is that neither th Kimber or the Springer will take a stock 1911A1 firing pin.

Do you really need more?

Kimber great for Carry

I agree with FlyinBryan. I love how my Kimber Pro Carry 2 is light and great for carry. it has some wonderful extras and is just an all around beautiful rig. its not the ORIGINAL but id rather drive a Ford Musting then a Ford Model T if u catch my drift.

A COLT is always the right answer, all others are copies!

Fewer MIM parts, accurate, great customer service.

The orginal!

Kimber would be my last choice and forget Sig too!!!

:)

sorry, i cant, i got so worked up about it i didnt sleep a wink last night, and im calling my therapist as soon as i can calm down.

I went with COLT. I didnt pick the Kimber because it isnt a Colt and I didnt pick the SA because it didnt say colt anywere on it either so a colt is a colt and everything else is just everything else. plus I stole this from a gun salesman that was hard up for money. I think this lists new for around $750 to $800. I Stole it for $450. its new. I was told it was never shot. ya dont run across deals like this very often so I pounced on it like a homeless man on a ham sandwich.

Colt may have built the original 1911... and they were fantastic for their time but even the military realized that old wooden ships wouldn't cut it in the new Navy.

Comparing the Springfield to the Kimber.

I find that these two are just about on par with each other in the accuracy department. The Kimber gets a slight nod due to the smoother and lighter trigger out of the box. In the reliability department they are what and what. Warranty, Springfield is known to have one of the best warranties in the business but you have to ship your gun back to them for them to swap out anything (This means slide stops too). Kimber doesn't have a very good written warranty but I know guys who have sent 10 year old Kimbers in and they were fixed under warranty. Seems with Kimber, you have to be nice on the phone and you will get good service.

Fit and Finish... The Kimber wins hands down. The slide is fitted better, less parts out of spec and the finish is superior.

You can't really go wrong with either of these pistols but I would pick the Kimber if both prices were the same. If the Kimber was a couple hundred bucks more, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a Springer.

Its not a Kimber, Colt, or SA but if you want the best 1911 carry gun for the money get one of these..........

Wilson Combat KZ 45; this is the compact model. It would behoove you to look into it at the Wilson Website. Good luck with your choice!

It looks like you have 3 different guns there: a full size, a commander length, and one with and officer frame and a commander slide. So before going with a brand, I'd decide what size gun I wanted. Each size has advantages and disadvantages.

There are choices in each category, although fewer in the "compact" size. You have to figure out what you want in/on the gun, then start looking to see which manufacturer makes what you are looking for.
