I have questions on the C&R,
I know that with a type 1 FFL there is an inspection yearly, where the log book is checked and also the security of the weapons.

With the C&R, is there an inspection also to prepare for, and will I be looking at investing money on a bigger and better gun safe.

Right now, I live in the country with no neighbors, so I only lock up my most valuable guns in a safe. I put trigger locks on the rest and lock them on a gun rack with a cable. Is that good enough?

I read through the ATF ap and understand the process, but I didn't see any info reguarding inspections. I understand that every gun you purchase, you must log, but what about that log? Do you hold on to it until they ask to see it, or fax something to them when asked?

Any info would be apprechated. Thanks...

I'm into my 7th year with a C&R,never had in inspection.
You need to log all C&R guns bought or sold as long as you
have it. This means even ones you didn't use a copy of your
C&R to buy(yard sale buy). Log it all, then even if they do ask
you for an inspection, you will be fine.

No inspection is required. They are not allowed to conduct more than one per year. You choose their location or yours. There is no requirement for a safe or other storage methods. You need to keep a bound book, which does not have to be bound. In that book, you record all purchases of C&R firearms, as well as the disposition of those firearms. Do not record non-C&R firearms in this book.

yup and its highly unlikely you will be checked at all.

people who have had it for years never got inspected

I've had mine seven years and got inspected once in the first year.

No big deal.

He just checked my Acquisition and Disposition record.....signed it....was out the door in no time.

BTW, he was pretty cool.

We talked for another five or ten minutes about guns in general.

you will likely find it to be the most expensive $30 you've ever spent

+1 to that:). My C&R license was the biggest wallet flattener I ever got. But in return I have one of the coolest accumulations of old rifles one could imagine. M1 Garands. Swedish Mausers. Didja know that the SAFN-49 is a C&R rifle? How about a Turkish Mauser? And the Swiss rifles and carbines chambered in 6.5x55mm. Did I mention M1 Garands?;)

CU74

you need some pistols to round that out.

M1895
TT-33
CZ-52
CZ-82's

and a whole slew of pistols and revolvers!
