New school = Twin cam 88 riding past the same field and not knowing the pleasure of same.

Take the best both schools have to offer. Don't be either hidebound or running fancifully after every new trend that comes along.

Respect, understand and learn from the old school. But keep your mind open to new ideas, concepts and directions. Take a little from each and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Old school: Getting into the 'sneak box' boat with grandpa with our shotguns,dozen old deeks and thermos of coffee at 0 dark 100 on a blustery November morning on the mainland of Barnegat Bay NJ and putting the 5 hp Johnsen to the reed choked mud bank that would haven dozens of flights in the morning.
New School:Brandishing a shotgun on the banks of ocean front property would bring Jersey Troopers on shore and the Fish and Game people on cutters.

Actually I travel to Canada for geese these days and belong to a Los Banos Calif duck club and we sip a little sweet water in our $1000 a year bunkers and think of the good old days!

Old School: Fixed choke barrels. One barrel, one choke, unless you want to stick one of those hideous polychokes on it...

New School: Screw-in chokes! 1 barrel, chokes from wfo to too-dang-tight! Need rifling, use a rifled choke! Got an older gun that you wish had a looser choke? You can possibly have the barrel reworked for screw-in chokes and the world is your oyster! Do they make a choke for keyboards? Mine keeps letting out too many exclamation points!

New school: M16 that gets the job done with 6+ shots while the BG keeps shooting

Old School: Trying to remember what my Dad was telling me.

That one brought a smile to my face as I remembered an incident with my girls earlier today.

Old School: Going to Sears and picking up a shiny new Model 200 (and maybe a new socket set) when you moved to the Farm and needed to deal with critters, 'cause Sears has darn near everything a person needs.

New School: Sitting in the suburbs, spending days online researching exactly what you think you might need to go shoot some clays (and the occasional winged critter). Finding way too much stuff to drool over and agonizing that what you really want costs more than your first car.
