Well guys, i couldn't find this in the search (sorry if its already a topic like this) so, show us the inside of your gun safes. This should be interesting!!

I think you might find a lot of negative replies to this one...some (most?) folks aren't that eager to show the world what kind of hardware they're stacking. Whether it really is a bad idea to show off your stash or not, most won't probably won't be overly eager to post up pics.

I couldn't possibly show the world the inside, it's a terrible mess, hope you understand. :neener:

I'd do it if I had a nice organized display to set it all up in, but things are au natural. Also, after joining this site, my collection doesn't seem as complete or even impressive anymore. heh heh. I'm proud that I have a good spread that covers the basic categories I'm interested in (5.56 AR variant, .308 battle rifle, 7.62x39 rifle, 9mm carbine semi version of a tactical smg etc.) but I've had to settle for less than the top end on some things due to available income. I do hope somebody will step up and 'wow' us though, and I seriously hope there is no future repercussions or reasonable fear of any for doing so.

I'd really like to show you the inside of my gun safe, but Lord Lucan is living in there and he'd be really upset about me showing pictures of his house on the internet.

Hey - I'll play .....

It's not really a 'safe' ..... so to speak - but it is pretty safe!

I built my vault when I poured my basement.

Thought you might like some dimensions .... the walls are 10" thick steel reenforced concrete. I had the concrete guys pour a solid 'footer' beneath the floor .... so it has about a 30" deep concrete floor. The ceiling is steel with steel reenforced concrete on top. I guess the weakest part is the door which is 1/2" thick steel, has a large number of bolts, a re-locker system, and a high quality lock.

So - I feel OK posting a photo. Enjoy!

It's such a cluttered mess in there.

But when I get my digital camera to work (or buy a new camera that gets decent resolution) I'll be more than happy to post images of what usually resides inside!

......No, that doesn't include me personally. But... if they made one BIG enough, I probably would.

WhisperFan,
All I can say is that is BEAUTIFUL....and that I'm very jealous!!!!!

Unfortunately, the cost of a good safe would approach the value of my entire collection. I'll probably get one anyway, when I get my own house, but right now I don't really feel like its necessary. I keep my long guns in a locking gun rack and my pistols in a drawer. I should probably devise a way to lock the drawer.

WhisperFan, that vault is inspiring! I want to build something like that eventually.

Is that a full-auto Uzi on the shelf? Very nice.

Thanks - I put a lot of thought into how to lay it out

"Inspiring" is a complete understatement. Grats man. everyone who hasn't posted is drooling!

wow man, now if every 1 could play like whisper everything would be good :p, nah whisper if i had that much stuff in my safe id be drooling

wow whisperfan. what a nice set up. when i get the chance to build my own place i might have to do something similar. its a sad day for anyone who wants to break into ur safe room haha. cheers.

WhisperFan, very pretty. Is that a dehumidifier I see?

Yup, full size dehumidifier. When they were pouring the walls, I gave them a piece of 1" PVC to sleeve the concrete. Then, when it was complete, I put in the dehumifier and ran the hose through the wall and to the floor drain in the utility room.

I have a thermometer that shows relative humidity inside the safe and one outside. My house seems to stay around 74% and inside the vault ranges between 45% and 55% with an average temp of 75%.

I keep my primers and powder in there too - along with some ammo. I figure it is the driest place in the house.

All any lock, safe, or vault does it serve to try to keep and honest man honest.

Given enough time, the right amount of determination, and the proper materials .... anyone can breech just about anything.

All I want to do is make it so the time and trouble it would take to get into my vault isnt worth the value of what they would get. I want them to decide that there are easier 'pickings' elsewhwere and not even try. After all, the more time a burglar spends in your home, the more chance he will be caught.
