Armoredman and I went tothe range today and it was kinda windy. We next door LEO's were shotting and there were lots of them there playing my song.

The bummer was when we got a phone call after I finally got to shoot my CZ PCR 9mm. I was doing so much better since I got my new glasses. The phone call was from a bill collector and it ruined our first day out at the range in over a year. I was having a good time untill then. I tried not to let them ruin it but it was a no go. I was putting rounds near or at the ten ring making sure I was lineing the sights up right.

I hope the next time we go no one calls. We are going to make sure of that because we will turn the dog dong things off. So thats life in the big city range.

Caller ID is your friend. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. 99 times out of 100 they don't leave a message, either.

Good idea on turning the cell off, that's what I do when I go to the range. It's kinda like church, I don't enjoy being interrupted at either location :)

Next time we will definately do that. Been a long time getting her out there. She did do very well with her new PCR. :)
I also got some more rounds downrange with the vZ-58 - this thing just continues to impress me!

I used to sneak off from work and go to the range. I'd be having a great time untill my boss would call and and want to discuss work stuff. I started leaving my phone in the pick-up because I was worried that some day I would be talking to him like I was busy and someone would light off a .300 mag or something and then I'd have to explain what the "explosion" was.

One day his secretary called me just as a coyote ran in front of my pick-up. I had to hang up on her so she would'nt hear me shoot the coyote. Cell phones can be so akward.

You can answer the phone with gunshots in the background and scare off the bill collector, hehe.

years ago i tuned in and dropped out and haven't got a signal since.
besides, my daughter updates/changes my ring tones --personalizes them. strangers tell me 'its your phone mister.' by than its gone to cover and i have no idea where that is.
at the range i set it on vibrate and if it moves, i shot it.

Actually, the person heard the shooting, and said we should sell our guns to pay the bill. We got it covered, no problem, but I was sorely tempted to tell her where to go...

Sorry to sound harsh, but you wouldn't have gotten that call if you pay your bills and live within you means.

One of the ranges I shoot at is in a disused quarry. I always promise my wife that I’ll leave my phone switched on … and I do.

Thing is, the reception is just awful due to all the rock and I can't get a signal … oh well!

I retired to get away from phones. So I can't even imagine having a cell phone on at the range. If it's something important, like maybe the world is ending, I'm sure they'll e-mail me later. :neener:

Don't understand why you had it on to start with.

Do you really want to mess up your hearing as well as the hearing of the person calling?!

.Just put your phone near your gun and shoot.

Then yell into the phone, that will teach him to come around here.

Presto, problem solved.

You must be very young or very lucky .

Bill collectors DO make huge mistakes and call and even turn you over to collection agencies when Bills have been paid or they haven't done the correct paperwork to GET paid when it comes to medical bills .

I have twice in my life been turned into collection when DR.'s didn't even send the paperwork into my insurance Company or they would have gotten their money , no calls no letters nothing for a year and a half until collection calls and starts demanding money they should and would have had if they did their jobs correctly . Call Insurance company and they have never seen a claim come through .

Have had paid utilities shut off when already paid in full .

They turned off the water when the bill was paid for over a month for a whole $32 , claimed they never received payment but they miraculously found it by the time I made a 30 min drive to go give them another $32 yet still insisted I must pay a $25 reconnection charge to have it turned back on .

Bill collectors are the scum of the earth and need their own special place in Hell just for them .

Hell, I got sent to collections because my brother was a deadbeat. He used my phone number and address for his place of residence and...*pooof*....bill collectors galore calling and dropping by.

Poo happens.

If you dont like bills than only ever pay cash.
cant always do that, right? so be mature about it and adjust to the fact that 'stuff goes wrong' and deal with it. shooting the messenger only insures that the next messenger will be better prepared for you. deal with the party giving the messenger information and correct it at that level ( or make arrangements to pay it). medical bills are especially annoying and can drag on for 3 or 4 seasons across multiple 'supervisors' and misstatements by many of them. keep a record of every conversational and persons name & #. Information is power and when you can reference a specific call--date and person, they take you more seriously. and after the case is resolved insist on a snail-mail statement indicating account number and balance due being -0-.keep the file with your IRS stuff for 7 years.

I cannot tell you how many times I dream of the day that I put a 500 S&W round right thru my work cell phone.

my question is ...how can a bill collector call your cell phone??? i thought it was illegal for them to call cell phones? i had one bill collector (from horsepital bill) that i called from my cell and even gave him the cell number to call me back on he said they couldnt call me on a cell,,, at least here in tennessee maybe.
