ok so budget is under $200, basically i want a military surp rifle that ammo isn't crazily priced and plentiful.

i have a 1948 M44 mosin that i love, but its complete matching numbers so i don't want to drill and tap the receiver for a solid scope mount. I'm thinking of getting a 91/30 or M38 to do so that doesn't have matching numbers. ammo is cheap and i love the rifles but I'm open minded to try something new.

was thinking also yugo 24/47 but ammo is EXPENSIVE, so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Shean

get an m39 from here http://www.gunsnammo.com/

if you dont have a curio license you can have the antique framed guns sent right to your door with just your drivers license. these things are tack drivers and are the cream of the crop for mosin.

who said anything about hunting, this will be mainly a bench target toy. i have other guns for game hunting.

Note to other THR members: do not read 3 threads simultaneously while also reading an article for your operations management class, or you will look like a moron.

Seriously though, I could have swore that your OP said something about deer hunting.

The Stevens are excellent rifles. I have one chambered in 300 Win Mag I use on Whitetails. The triggers are easily adjustable, down to around 3-3.5 lbs. The stock is ugly...so take $10 to Wal-Mart and get some Krylon.
