I'm looking for one of these for my son for xmas. I can't find one anywhere in town (San Antonio), or on the web. I admit I haven't scoured the web, but I did check a few places that I know about, such as Bud's Gun Shop.

anyone know a good place that has them in stock? My local W-M sells them, but they only had a .270 in stock. they tried to special order a 308 for me, but their computer would not accept the order. I believe the local WMs are getting out of the gun business.

The Academys in town, and the Sportsmans Warehouse do not have them either. Bud's Gun is out of stock.

Thanks for any suggestions where to get one. Also, any comments on the rifle itself will be appreciated, since I have not owned one or shot one, so I'm interested in people's comments.

I have an ATR-100 in .30-06. With most commercial soft-point ammo (read as 'the cheap stuff') wil hold 2" @100Yds in MY hands.

With GOOD ammo and steadier hands, even better. Shooting Budd using Federal Gold Match ammo got a smidge under 0.7" 5 shots @100Yds.

I have the ATR in .308. It is a decent gun. Actually for the money its a good hunting gun. I have had zero problems with mine, granted it has 300 rounds max through it. It will hold a decent group @ 100 yards. From sand bags it'll shoot about 1". You should try Dicks if you have one down there.0

head on down I-35 towards Austin. Check out Cabela's there in Buda...might have one there, I think. Plus you would want to go just to walk around and look at that place. Its pretty neat. :)

that would be "head on up" I-35... :) I was just in Cabela's a couple of weeks ago to check out their milsurps out in the aisles.... They were totally wiped out, they had less than I've ever seen. I asked the guy there and he just said "we sold 'em all...".

I didn't look at new rifles, and back then I was not looking for the 100 ATR. I tried cabelas's website, but I couldn't find regular guns. They have something called "Fine Gun Room", but that is not their regular behind the counter guns.

I think there might be a new Dicks in town, never been there. I'll check them out.

I m surprised Academy doesn't have one, do you have a Bass pro around you? check them, if not call academies in Houston, and have them deliver you one, or call austin , and do the same.

yep, have a Bass Pro right up the road from where I work. There's also a new Dicks in the same shopping center. I may drive over there during lunch today.

I'm tempted to go into a local Academy and say, "look I want one of these rifles, now find me one...!"

Dicks comes through !

they ordered one for me, their supplier had one left in stock. $279.99, good price!!

I went in on my lunch hour, it was the first time I've ever been there. Need to go back when I have more time.

and... best of all... the gun guy told me that Dicks decided to start carrying reloading supplies !!

I recently got my son a 100ATR Bantam in .243, it's a great little gun.

Dick's ordered it for me....a little over $300 for the Walnut version

when I called bass pro looking for a .308 100 ATR, they said they had a .243, and that might be better for my son, and they said .243 might be easier to find. I've never shot a .243, but since I load all my own ammo, and I already have some 30-06 rifles, and I have lots of bulk .308 bullets already.... I decided a .308 for my son would be better.

All I need by xmas is some .308 cases (everybody is out of stock by the way), and a set of dies. I'm leaning towards the Lee deluxe set, with a FL sizer and a neck sizer both.

thanks for the Dick's recommendation 3pairs12. I wouldn't even have though of them if you hadn't mentioned them. They opened up in town recently and I had never been there yet.

Stick with the .308. I've heard some pretty good things on the Mossberg 100's, similar to that of my Stevens Model 200. The ammo, casings, dies, etc should be plentiful at any sporting goods store and on the internet. Whoever said 243 is easier to find than 308 hasn't look on the shelves at Wally World.
