So Iv been asked what I want for Christmas, and Iv decided i want one of those two pistols. I like the ergonomic of both.

A local shop got in a shipment of NIB Beretta marked cougars about a week ago; a couple 9s,a couple 40s, and a 45. They still have most of them left, and are asking about $450. They have Px4s in all the same calibers for approximately the same price.

What are the pros and cons of the two models? they seem very similar. Can I get opinions of owners of either model?

I like the PX4 better - the barrel and sight radius is a little longer than the Cougar.

The cougar is no longer being made by Beretta, so it will be the harder to get in the future. $450 is a very good - great price, particually for the 45ACP version (unless its a D model) - even then its a good price.

The PX4 is nice and light and probably would be my choice. I had the 9mm and had no issues with it. I have heard of some trigger slap with the 40 and 45 but cannot confirm ir personally and had no such issues with the 9.

17 rounds of 9mm in the standard mag is nice and the factory 20's give some good firepower.

I like the 45 best, but i don't have a 40 yet so i'm debating caliber choice.

As it stands, they only have 1 each of the 45 caliber PX4 and Cougar. ill go for the 45 cougar first, but if its gone by then ill be happy with a PX4. :)

Sold my PX4 to fund another Beretta 92, and I have a 9MM Cougar. I have come to the realization that I just prefer metal pistols. Given the choice, I'd prefer the COugar.

Had the cougar in .40 s&w, sold it. It was an alright gun, but I have better luck shooting my friend's px4. Just feels better with the ergonomics, and the larger magazine is a plus. Plus I shot better with the px4 as far as grouping and follow up shots.
