Need some imput on a customized M96 Swede . It has a Dayton Traister low mount which became loose and stopped functioning . Is there a better brand ? I need a low mount as it has a scope mounted . Any suggestions woud be appppreciated .
Thanks

I've converted several to the swing type (M70) with very good results. Brownells sells a simple package. It is NOT a 3 position safty, but very functional. A milling machine is required, unfortunately.-----I guess it's not unfortunate if you have one!!!

Brownells stocks the Timney Buehler-style low safety; part number 883-805-096AB for the '96 Mauser. It's significantly more expensive than the DT safety; not sure it's significantly better, though. Those are about your only two choices, unless you install an adjustable trigger with a safety on it like the Timney or Bold.

A problem with the Dayton Traister safeties can be the nylon button which is supposed to keep them tight can wear causing slop & maybe malfuntion. I fitted one to a mates Swedish Mauser some years ago & when this occurred, it just got sloppy rather than stopped working, I pulled it out & put a small spring in like the beuhler safeties use. It was fine after that.
