The election is effectively over. What are your gun plans?

I'm not going to be specific, but we all know who is going to win in November. Frankly I'm more worried about the congress, but I want to know if you are going "1992" all over again, or in other words, are you making a specific AK/AR/other EBR order/purchase now as a direct result of what is clearly coming?

I understand the "anything can happen" point of view, but the only question at this point is whether it will be a small victory or a blowout, so are you dropping plans for "sporting purpose" guns in favor of EBRs?

Considering the pollsters blew calling the last two elections, I think I'll wait until all the votes are counted - hopefully only once... Factor in the 4-6% overestimate based on those elections, and I think it's still a horse race... I just hope I didn't overestimate the bubba-factor!

That being said - I had already planned on 5 AR15 lowers for various projects to keep me busy over the next few years and I see no reason to put them on hold.

*IF* he wins. I will be putting an AR and AK on layaway on Nov.5 . I really don't want to, nor do I really want to think about it, as I'm on a revolver and bolt-gun kick right now. The semi-auto/military bug hasn't bit me yet but I know if he wins this will be the only chance I'll have to get one.

2 things first:

I think there is too much to do before enacting any more infringement on everyone's rights, most people will be screaming mad if whoever gets in doesn't focus on the big picture ASAP and not petty issues at this time.

Me, this current crap going on doesn't really affect me, you like using electricity, so does pretty much everyone else in the world, my job, help keep the power on with products manufactured here in the USA...

If my lawsuit goes well, I'd like to get an AR lower and another AK of somekind...

Yea I bet there will be a run on lowers.

Ya know, you can have that revolver and bolt-gun kick at the same time as the semi/military bug ;)

Wow, this theme came up again? I'm glad people are thinking this way, and hopefully tailoring how they vote in accordance with our sacred First right that makes any others possible...and not so broken spirited they don't bother to vote. Too many people that are 'in the barrel' for the Bolshevist candidate are drinking the cool aid believing their rights won't be touched, due to the usual crafty spin meisters. Also, remember folks, there are 3 branches of government for a very good reason, so we're not totally at the mercy of the executive branch!
In response to the question, my gun plans were going to be to hold off from adding to my collection for a while, and saving and trying to find a used Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casul, which I have wanted for years. I am now leaning strongly towards getting an AK in the next few weeks, because I'm afraid if I wait until after the election, they'll all be snatched up and/or the price will go up. I always planned on getting another AK, but was putting it off. I had a MAK 90 before, but sold it to my brother to put that towards one in the style I like better. At least I kept 4 steel 30 rounds magazines for it. I'll probably snatch up a 75 round drum and a couple more 30 rounders, and at least 500-1000 rounds for it. I might just have to accept that I'll never get to complete my wish list, not having extra thousands of dollars of expendable money, but I'm holding out hope and staying vigilant.

I already have a weapon of just about every style (not every type by any means).... I see little reason for doubles of most anything aside from for investment reasons.... and since I never seem to sell a gun, the investment thing can't really be counted on by anyone but my next of kin...

This, coupled with the fact that it will take a decent amount of time to enact legislation (if it happens at all), and that legislation will no doubt start at some point after it is approved (providing it is enacted), means I really shouldn't be worrying about it right now....

If, on the other hand, I wanted some sort of weapon that was likely to end up on 'the list', and had limited resources to allocate to such things, I would be saving right now....

I'm thinking who ever gets in is probably going to have their hands too full W/ the economy to worry about your AK. That said a LOT of people are buying guns. The parking lot of Specialty Sports is full every day when I drive by ( and when I stop in)

I doubt very seriously that, that fact is lost on either candidate. I can't see either side going after guns anytime soon.

Oh and while I'm at it IBTL

This political tsunami has been building for at least 8 years. The damage caused in the those eight has been as destructive as anytime in our history.
I wasn't willing to trade all my other rights for the promise that the existing clown wouldn't screw with my guns. I'm still not!:fire:
What a terrible price we paid for that quid pro quo! "Drink the Kool Aid kids and I'll probably leave your guns alone!
The effects of the econ and that "right snatching" Pat Act will endanger the pursuit of firearms more than a new President's imaginary agenda!

Guns alone are no longer enough of a reason to vote for a candidate over another after the calamity of the past eight.:fire:

Hang on!

Hmmm, I remember the headline that read Dewey Wins. So don't count your chickens before they hatch. It ain't over till it's over.

I am not quite ready to give up yet.

I have all I need, or want, just hope I get to keep them.

CCW alive and well in Florida.

Panicking takes energy; I'm way too lazy to run around like the proverbial beheaded poultry... especially at this early date. Even if he wins, it's no guarantee that there will be an AWB II, or any such thing.

I expect that fixing the economy, or trying, is going to occupy most of the next administration no matter who is elected. Guns have to be pretty low on the list. If they aren't, then somebody's priorities are pretty crazy, and trying to pass an AWB during a plummeting economy is going to look, well, stupid. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but the odds aren't as bad as they could be.

For my part, I don't plan to buy anything I wasn't already planning to buy.

I have to say, though: I just moved to a CCW-friendly state. If I no sooner get my CCW before they prohibit carrying, I am going to be... displeased. That doesn't look very likely just yet, though.

You guys are acting like this is a bad thing. How many of you honestly believe if Obama were to get elected his first priority would be gun control? That is just acting paranoid. The NRA is pretty powerful in its own right, everyone needs to just calm down and remove their tinfoil hat.

First priority? No.

But he'll have 8 years to do it, so why allow him the chance?

I've added a few new rifles, some stripped receivers, and magazines. If a new AWB gains steam in Congress, I'll look at the wording and take what action I can. If it models the last ban, I can build up the stripped lowers prior to enactment and they'll qualify as grandfathered.

Worst case, if no AWB push happens, I can sell off the "excess" next fall after prices stabilize.

Paranoid? Do you realize how far to the Left congressional leadership is? Do you understand that the only barrier to all the far left legislation that Pelosi and Reid and their constituents have been pushing for the past two years has been a Republican president and the threat of fillibuster? After this election the Senate may have a fillibuster-proof 60 seats. Obama will sign every piece of legislation that comes out of Congress. They know they have a guaranteed 2 years to push through as much of their social engineering legislation as possible. You can bet that will include as much gun control, ammunition control, gun show control, etc etc etc etc. It's not paranoia. It's the way it's gonna be. There will be no check on it besides the Supreme Court (for now) and their decision on Heller was a scant 5-4 so there's no guarantee they would rule in the future in our favor. Checks and balances will in effect not exist for at least 2 years.

It ain't over until its over. Dewey vs. Truman.

Should have read the other posts! :D But it does show that I agree. VOTE!
