I normally carry two pistols on my person and one in-car below the seat. Well, I was pulled over driving home from work for going 62 MPH in a 45 MPH zone and travelling on a yellow-striped median (I was using it to pass a car). I was pretty nervous because it was the first time I had been pulled over while CCing. But everything went great, because the officer after running a check handed back my license WITH A SMILE and said "try to be more careful next time". I couldn't believe it. I thought to myself, how did I get so lucky? Then I remembered I have several anti-Democrat and pro-republican stickers on my rear bumper. :D

got a 93 in a 55 in DE, back tracking to boston cost me about 600 bucks. i hear now in FL. its 1,000 bucks for your 1st ticket good thing i got them racket up and my insurance is through the r00f.

you know, I'm actually pissed off that he did not give you a ticket.

Hey now, there is a shocker.

yeah becuase officers letting some one off for speeding( 17 mph over), wreckless driving and passing illegally, becuase they have a permit is ok with you.

What ohter laws are you ok with some one that has a permit to do something breaking?

edit let me put it another way.

Its ok for me to power wash your house and let all the old lead based paint to run down the storm drain, becuase I have a contracting lic. If you were to do it, you would get the base fine of $50k + what ever other fines they come up with and the clean up costs.

Is that ok with you?

The "securely encased" requirement doesn't apply to holders of a CWP. The pistol in your car can be readily accessible just as a pistol on your person.

You mean a CCW in Florida. And I'm feisty tonight.
You never mentioned you had CCW in your OP.CC'ing DOES NOT tell us you have a CCW.:D
Am I technically correct?
Sorry,be more specific.Don't let it happen again.:evil:I don't like to be called out on non specific OP statements.;)

TAB: I don't believe I condoned any behavior one way or the other. I simply mentioned I was not shocked to see you were pissed off he didn't get a ticket. Which is more based on multiple other posts from you that I have had the pleasure of reading. I simply wasn't shocked at the position you took on this.

Given that roughly 98% of our society break laws when they drive, i.e. speeding, failure to use a blinker, DUI's, tailgating, failure to come to a complete stop on turns or stop lights, running red lights, running yellow lights, failure to yield, etc... I'm not going to lose too much sleep that he was going 62 in a 45.

Unless you know what type of road he was on, what the traffic and weather conditions were, what his history as a driver is, and whether or not he was a danger to anyone, I would think you might want to lay off expressing how pissed off you were that he didn't get cited.

Then again, the world, and THR for that matter, wouldn't be near as fun if we didn't have all the psuedo law enforcers out there to keep us safe, keep us legal, and keep us happy.

give the guy a break. we all get lucky once in a while. this is not the first story like this i have heard. i got out of a few tickets when i was young because my aunt was on the sherrifs department (dispatcher). they radioed in my info, came back to me and told me my aunt said hi, and slow down and go home! worked for me!

But moooose, most of us ain't moooose and most of us don't have Auntie working dispatch.
And you're in Michigan for gosh sake's.
Cut us a break.

I'm not pissed off that he was going 62 in a 45... I'm pissed off becuase an officers of the law, pulled him over. Then did not enforce the laws for which they have sworn to uphold. I'm sorry, but from the OP, he admitted he was speeding, he admited he was over a yellow medain and he admited it was do to him passing.

I don't know about you, but if what happend is anything like what the OP has admited happend, at the very least he should have gotton atleast 1 ticket.

Would you being ok going into a contract with some one, then having them not uphold thier end of the contract? That IS what happend here.

Heck, I speed 17mph on my bicycle! And no, I don't think I was any danger to anyone else, my life is my business.

I could care less if somehow has a permit if they're breaking a law.
What I'm for is responsibility. I think going above the posted limit can be done in a same and responsible manner. I think cutting corners on turns can be done safely and responsibly. I'm not advocating breaking the law, but I see nothing wrong with it done when done right.
And I'm not going to be unhappy when they don't get a ticket for it.
When they endanger people and get let off for just about any reason I may be unhappy.

So some one like, oh say a race car driver that is use to driving cars at 200 mphs... its ok for him to drive a 100 mph as its safe for him to do so... but you do it and its a crime.

I'm agreeing with TAB.
We must be nearing the end of of our journey!:D

In other news, Fantasyland just raised their prices, but Utopia, Nirvana, and Xanadu, are available to everyone.

WHAT! You are telling me that officers of the law don't uphold the laws? No way. What about any of our elected officials that swear to uphold the constitution of the U.S.? They do that to the T. Last time I checked the system was corrupt and most of us just try to do our best navigating through it.

So he didn't get a ticket, good for him. Speeding is way, way, way, way, way down the list of grevious offenses to me. Actually, studies show that higher speeds actually reduce the number of accidents, but the severity is increased. Usually people that drive faster are more aware than the jackass on cruise control in the left hand lane going their steady, "55 stay alive", making sure NOBODY breaks the law.

Shocker, The High Road turning into The Holier Than Thou Road.

I have heard many times about police letting someone off on a traffic violation due to the driver having a license for CCW. Some police feel threatened by an armed civilian, some recognize them for what they are, a good guy. When a cop has been pulling over people with no licenses at all, no insurance, drugs, illegals guns or whatever all day, I'm sure sometimes they'll be more than happy to let an otherwise law abiding citizen off with a warning.

I think either person would get a ticket. I would be inclined to let the race car driver go over a 18y/o in his Supra, because the race driver is trained for high speeds and knows how to handle them (assuming his car is fit for those speeds).

No where in his OP does Cannonball say he told the LEO he had a CCW.
I think he just got a nice cop ,on a good night, who was having some warm feelings about making it home.
Guns played no part in Cannonball's drama.
We win some,we lose some.

Eh, I forget he is in FL, here in TX we MUST inform an officer during a traffic stop, hence the LEO/CCW experience.

which studys are those? All of the studys I've seen say people exceeding the speed limit is one of the major contributing factors to accidents...

I had to learn to walk again between 11-13 after we were rear ended...I have had 3 major surgurys on my spind... all of which envoled metal... so forgive me if I get a little pissed off about people breaking trafic laws.
