Interesting -- What I've heard from my local dealer is that lots of folks are bringing in used guns for sale. Not a lot of new stuff going out, lots of locker/safe clearing going on to pay the bills.

This is just what's going on where I work in NE Georgia. The high end guns that are selling are AR-15s. We've had plenty of folks from all walks of life come in with similar stories. They've all liked or wanted an AR-15 (or other EBR) as range toy, or just as a cool gun. They're buying now just in case.

Folks looking for hunting rifles are buying low end. The good buy used guns, and the new Remington 700 ADLs are what's selling best as far as hunting rifles.

Handgun business remains pretty good. Georgia's much improved carry law just took effect this summer. Airweight J Frames and pocket autos remain hot sellers. All handguns are still selling fairly well.

5.56 and .223 FMJ ammo are very difficult to keep in stock.

Around here folks seem to be saying that hunting season sales were slow. However, one place I frequent did say that while "assault" sales were up, all in all things were going slow, so that's what I voted for.

The couple places I have visited relatively recently have said sales have been "steady." I guess that means up. People aren't apparently doing all-out runs on gunshops like they did with banks in the '30's, but they are buying at a steadier pace.

In one shop, I was there with another person and made a crack about a Barrett on display and one of the guys behind the counter heard me and commented that recently their sales of Barretts have been up. Although, they weren't selling many before, so selling only a couple more than "usual" is a noticeable increase. Also, he said folks seem to be liking the .416 Barrett as much or more than the .50 BMG version.

Black rifle sales are wayyyy up out here. Handguns are steady, but the clear top seller is the AR15's and AK clones. Shotguns are stale, as are hunting rifles. Basically, if it's black, shoots 7.62 or 5.56, and has a detachable mag it's flying off the shelf; no matter who makes it. From Olympic Arms to Bushmaster, Cetme to Serbu; America has officially gotten EBRD! :D

I didn't vote, but the gun store in my hometown is having a good month, & the one I go to in Wichita is doing real well with the AR's.

The local Gander seems to be taking in quite a few guns lately, a little more than usual at least as far as handguns go. Shotgun and rifle sales look normal for this time of year. Not noticing much difference in EBR type sales. To qualify, this is just on my observations, I didn't actually ask anyone.
Local Scheels is doing less in rifles this year than they did last year, according to one of the sales guys. Used shotguns are disappearing faster than a nudie mag in house full of 13 year old boys, though. The only EBRs they have at all are DPMS, nothing seems notable with the sales of those either way.
So far as I can tell, both of those stores sell handguns seemingly in spurts, so it's hard to really make an accurate observation from my limited PoV.

Granted, this was all I'd seen a little over a week ago. As both the election and gun deer season draw ever closer, it could be noticeably changing.
