you would normally have it by now....however permits were 1 in 72...now are 1 in 32....with obama points ahead, well, there probably is a good back log...gpr

I sent mine in with electronic finger prints as well. Maybe there is a back log as gpr states.

I believe that Department of Agriculture is saying not to even ask about status until 45 days after mailing.

I finally broke down and got one this summer (had a "lawman's permit" many years ago.) Sent it in with paper prints in June, got it in August. Someone on the other site said a lady with the department mentioned a substantial backlog (up to three months) lately. Incidentally, mine was delayed an additional ten days or so while I proved citizenship, as I had indicated my birthplace as being outside the US (AFB in Pacific). I was asked to send my State Department BC and/or passport (sent both), and permit was issued shortly thereafter.

Two years ago I took me exactly 60 days door to door.

Huh. I'll need to track down how to ask about that. They cashed my check 8/15, no permit yet.

They do say to allow up to 90 days, and I've run through some hell to make sure there's nothing to disqualify me. I honestly think I'm cursed as far as paperwork goes.

Mine is one year old. I got it back in 30 days with old fashioned ink prints and snail mail and I don't even live in Florida.

I got mine two months ago... it took close to the full 90 days.

On the electronic fingerprints... I couldn't find anybody down here that would do them. The instructor told us who to call, but they all said their machines were broken.

Took me 75 days to get mine from what I've been told thats about average.

I must have got lucky, got mine today, 57 days from the day they cashed my check.

From others I know, it's taking the full 90-days, maybe a week or two less if you used a money order and submitted electronic prints. I used a personal check and did paper prints, so am prepared for the full wait. In the meantime, I'm using this time to try out as many guns as I can in person, and do some research online, which is what brought me to this forum. So, it's all good.

Actually, I'm glad I've got this waiting period. I've learned a lot that I wouldn't have otherwise, and had I not been waiting, I would have probably just bought a top-recommended gun and then ended up not happy, and not using it. I've learned that many guns (glocks, for example) that I was prepared to buy as a no-brainer, don't work for me at all. I've been reconsidering what I thought I wanted as a carry gun (size, weight, caliber, etc), and been lucky enough to meet up with good folks I've met online or at the range that have let me try their guns. Most were on my short-list, and now aren't on any list of what I'd use.

I'm still looking, but I realized that as a 5'5'' 140lb female with a small waist and big hips, my carry options in reality, both in gun choice and method of carry, aren't as I thought they would be when I first started out, and certainly not as others had recommended to me.

What's funny is that I started out wanting only a gun for carry, but bought a Wilson KZ45 as my first gun. Go figure. I just loved the way it felt and how well I shoot with it. I guess I have range gun now, and am looking at two guns for carry, one larger (P2000sk, S&W MP9c, SA EMP, XD SC, Sig 239, etc), and one smaller (Rohrbaugh R9, Kimber Ultra Carry, Colt Agent/Defender, Kahr PM9)........arrrrgh....or maybe a revolver......I still have a couple months to decide, so......

Anyway, I'm using this time for instruction, practice, and research. Hopefully, other folks, who are waiting, unless already really experienced with handguns, which many here seem to be, are doing the same. I don't know if others found this to be true, but there were a couple people in my CWL class, specifically three men and one woman, that scared the bejezzus out of me, not only in their lack of gun-handling knowledge, but their lax and/or macho attitudes about carrying a gun. I've since run into more than a couple guys at the range that I don't even want near me with loaded guns, and I question their ability to use one in general, let alone under pressure.

I'm thinking about doing it too. But if Obama gets into office will he revoke the permits & will we get a refund or be assed out? Or will we be grandfathered in? I'm in Clay county.

For renewals, it seems like they try to get it back to you before your current one expires including a cycle time allowance for one mistake correction.

Not sure what the are doing on new permits.

Anyone know how long before expiration they send out the renewal paperwork, and if it's possible to start that process any earlier? Mine expires a year from now,and I'd love to get it started early, if at all possible.

They send it to you, but as I said, they send it in plenty of time for you to make an error, correct it, and still get the new license weeks early.

Just over a year ago mine took 45 days with electronic fingerprinting.

I was already in their database as a former Department of Corrections employee which may have made things a little quicker.
