Does anyone else think their electronic ear muffs don't provide enough sound dampening? I think part of my problem is that I can't ever get my safety glasses on underneath them without pulling the pad away from my ear slightly. I can't put the glasses on over top of the head band.

I find myself going back to regular earplugs most of the time. But does anyone know of some electronic muffs that have a high NRR, which allow you to wear eye protection without reducing it, that doesn't cost $200?

I bought a set from MidwayUSA, their house brand. I wear regular glasses plus shooting protection. During a 10 hour class, I never had a problem with them not being effective. Even someone clapping their hands got shut off.

You need the ones with a thick enough pad to form around the glass ear pieces.

I have no problems with my Peltor 7S, and I wear glasses.
Well, no problems with pistols-they tend to get in the way when shooting my ARs so I often revert to earplugs when using the AR.

Had a pair of the Peltor 7S for a while, and just ordered another pair-best price I could find was $117 at Amazon.

BTW...are you familiar with the Microsoft Cashback program? Looks like they're trying to steal some of Google's business, and once you learn how to play the game, you can get 25% off Buy It Now items on eBay.
Wish I had seen that before I ordered my last pair of Peltors-coulda got a new pair off eBay for 25% less than I paid at Amazon!

I picked up some from harbor fright on sale for $10,

so far i have had no problems with them,
i know you get what you pay for but this cheep pair has been good so far

Outside pistol work & all is well. Inside, I wear ear plugs underneath. They get in the way with a rifle or shotgun though.

I have a set of Midway USA electronic muffs that I let new shooters use so they can hear my instructions.

I use them any other time, but I "double up" with a pair of foam plugs underneath when I'm shooting the .44 magnum :D

Amazon sells the Peltor MT15H7F SV Tactical Pro Hearing Protector for $160. The seals work fine with my glasses. I like the design features of this electronic muff product:

- Uses 2xAA
- Easy-change battery compartment
- Auto power save (2 hr timeout)
- push button controls
- 270 hr battery life
- battery low alert

Electronic muffs are less useful when you double up (plugs and muffs), which I do when shooting indoors.

I have Pro-Ears muffs that seem to be fine with my glasses. I did pay almost $250 for them, though.

They have an adjustment for low, medium or high frequency inside each cup that you adjust by moving a jumper between three different sets of pins (like on a motherboard).

They were expensive, but well worth it. There is virtually no outside interference and when I'm hunting with my 500 Magnum, I adjust them so they are the same volume as my hearing (adjust one side with the other side up on my head until the volume matches my hearing and then the same on the opposite side).

Like people have said about them, I have actually seen deer that I would not normally have seen. One time I heard panting, I turned and looked and there was a coyote that had been running through the woods and stopped about 20' away from me. I then realized I could actually hear him breathing!

I'm a firm believer in that "you get what you pay for."

Those Peltors look good for pistol shooting, however, I wonder if they would mar the stock on my shotgun stock as they are pretty thick (wide).

I'm not familiar with the Peltors. I know with the Pro-Ears, there are completely separate volume controls for each side, which I like a lot. Also, they come with a five-year warranty.

Here are the Pro-Ears (expect to pay around $250 with shipping):

I bought 4 pair of cheap ones from Midway and they work fine for me and my family. Only $15 each too. But I only shoot outdoors so I can't speak how good they would be indoors.

I have a set of these from SportsMans guide;

They work fine for me, and for all the world seem to be either a knock off or a rebrand of the Peltors. The KEY to getting electronic muffs to work well is getting a good ear seal. The ear seals for my Peltor aviation headset fit these muffs just fine (another reason I believe they are a knock off or rebrand), so if you don't like the ear seals you can replace them.

It's a pleasure being able to hear a normal conversation on the range and still have my hearing protected.
