On the website Gunblast .com the gun guy who tested the 9mm M&P said it outshot and was more accurate than his personally owned Glock 19 ,the nearest size to the M&P !

Glock because there are gobs and gobs of accessories available.

I vote M&P because the ergos and sights are so much better. I also like the fact that its an American company.

If I had to, I'd choose the M&P because I don't shoot Glocks well. If you have to, then you need to find out which one you shoot best.

I will have to go with Glock. I tried shooting a .40 M&P and didnt like the trigger reset. It was too long for me. However my brother bought a copmpact M&P in 9MM and he is very happy with it.

glock is better

I chose glock, because It has been around for so long, and so many leo's trust their lives to glocks everyday.

I'd buy the one I shot the best. In my case, it was the M&P, by a country mile.

Our club raffled off an M&P when they first came out. It felt TERRIBLE in my hand. A few months ago, I held one at a gun show and it didn't feel bad at all. Must have been a different backstrap. I hear mostly good things about them.

I've got two Glocks, a Glock 19 and a Glock 22. They do what I want, so I've got little incentive to either switch or add an M&P. I feel exactly the same way about the Springfield XD. They're both good guns, just not good enough to switch to or buy one additionally.

M&P for me.

I just shoot it better than any Glock.

I like my M&P 9 Compact so much. That I've decided to get a tac light for it and keep it as my home defense gun.

Something the women don't have to worry about being cocked n locked or
to mess with any safeties.

Sad part. I'll have to sell some new M&P holsters to fund the light, then buy

something like the Galco Halo down the road when they offer such for the
Compact.

Anyone have a pic of a M&P or XD Sub with the X2 light??

I am fortunate in that my wife really doesn't like anything but Glocks, so I...I mean WE have 2 Glocks, and I have some non-Glocks including 2 M&Ps.

I like all of them. They've all been reliable out of the box. I know non-Glock fans complain about the grip and / or the grip angle. I can switch between them just fine. The benefit of the M&P is the interchangeable backstraps, and the Glock has a tried and true history of reliability. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either.

But if I were forced to choose, if it were going to be my only handgun purchase for a while or ever, I'd take home a Glock 19. Versatile, reliable, concealable if that's what you want - not as much as a 26 or an M&P compact, but not bad - plenty of available accessories - not much to complain about the 19 unless you simply don't like Glocks. Then you'd hate it!

But hold them, try the different backstraps if possible, or find a nice range with rentals and try them out.

My 2 cents.

M&P

With a good grip angle, a lack of "one size fits few" finger bumps, included swappable back straps, dual slide catches, and easily reversible mag catch, the S&W pistol is made for the hands and wrists of human beings, whether lefties or righties, and not for right handed only Roswell crash survivors and their descendants.:D

I voted for the M&P, because it seems they actually decided to make their grips to fit the human hand, rather than the other way around.

I, and everyone I know who'se tried, easily shoots an M&P better than a Glock.

I voted for m&p because for me the ergos are better. Not to mention it is roughly $150 to $200 cheaper for a comparable high quality gun. I've got nothing against glocks, I just feel they are overpriced.

Full disclosure...I own three Glocks, carried one for work since 1987 or so and learned to love them. I have never fired any of the M&Ps but have handled and sold a number of them. The M&P feels better in my hand and points better. I also like the S&W metal mags over the polymer of the Glock. Like another board member I am not a big fan of the third generation Glock finger grooves. I like to put my fingers where I choose, thank you. I will probably be buying a M&P 45 in the near future.

I voted M&P. I've owned several Glocks in the past (and currently have a 36). They were fine guns, but I never really cared for the grip angle or blocky feel. I don't have a problem with the 36, which exactly meets my needs, but overall, I like the M&P series better.

My department just tested the Glock 22 and M&P40 as possible replacements for the current duty pistol, the Beretta 96FS. I voted for the M&P, but the majority picked the Glock 22, so it looks like I'm going to be carrying a Glock on-duty again early next year.

I sold my first gen G17 after picking up the M&P in 40 S&W. Glock is a fine, reliable weapon, but I think Smith and Wesson have finally figured out a way to come out on top. I have both the full-size and the compact, and really enjoy them both.

M&P!!!

The M&P has metal sights, the Glock's are plastic.

The M&P has a through-hardened stainless steel slide, the Glock has a case-hardened coated steel slide.

The M&P has a stainless steel barrel with a fully-supported chamber, the Glock has a blued steel barrel with a partially unsupported chamber.

The M&P has an ambidextrous slide release, the Glock has a right-handed slide stop.

The M&P has a more ergonomic grip with interchangeable palm swells, the Glock has a flat grip with a one-size-fits-all mentality.

The M&P has standard metal drop-free mags, polymer-coated Glock mags often have to be pulled from the well when empty.

The M&P has replaceable slide rails, to replace the slide rails on a Glock, one has to replace the entire frame.

All M&Ps have accessory rails, some compact Glocks lack the rail.

The M&P has a larger trigger guard to accomodate shooters wearing gloves, the Glock is more difficult to shoot wearing gloves.

S&W's customer service is second-to-none, Glock's is reported by many to be questionable.

The M&P is Made in the U.S.A., the Glock is made in Austria.

Despite all the advantages the M&P has over the Glock, it costs, on average, about $100 less than the Glock.

If you are asking this question because you are considering purchasing one or the other, you should read this before making your decision. http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/gindex2.html

Well, that about sums it up. I was going to buy my second Glock this past spring, but then I looked into the M&P. I bought the M&P instead. I just purchased my second M&P, and my Glock is for sale.:D

I'd choose the Glock.

Anything else is just a "copy".
Because Glocks were the first striker fired polymer frame pistols <cough...HK VP70...cough>
