Uncle Mike´s or Fobus?

These are only the two holsters available for my CZ 75, where I live.

There are no other alternatives.

I like the look of the Fobus, but wonder if the three studs at the top would scratch the pistol surface over time.

I´d appreciate your advice.
 
I had a Fobus for my Taurus PT111 and liked it except for the fact that it stuck out pretty far and was hard to conceal. If you're open carrying then it's not an issue. I'm not sure if the studs are an issue, I returned it because it didn't conceal well. Can you mail order something else?
 
I use the Fobus Roto-Holster for my 75B, and it works well enough for my range/league gun. When I got it the retaining pressure was a little too strong. I "tweaked" it a little and it works well. I've been using it for some time and don't show any wear on the gun.
 
Ugh, not the best range of options. I don't know your line of work, but if there was a chance of moving about, I'd stick with the Uncle Mike's. At least there you get an adjustable tension screw.
 
I recently got a Fobus paddle holster for my Glock 19. About $19 at Lone Wolf Distributors.

I can shove the paddle into my waistband and wear the gun with no belt, making it easy to carry around the house, at the range, etc. And for $19...it's a pretty good solution. Solid holster at a great price, but does leave minor marring on the trigger guard.

I also have a leather holster from Simply Rugged that, when combined with my Mitch Rosen belt, will be a preferred, more comfortable form of open carry.

Two different, but equally satisfying, solutions.
 
You obviously have internet access. Are you limited by an employer or shipping? Availability of holsters through the web is limited only by shipping destination...
 
In my experience the Fobus I had for my Glock 23 did not draw very well and the Uncle Mike's is definately not easy to conceal. If given the choice between only those two I would have to choose the Uncle Mike's. The Kydex is thicker and the holster on the whole is more rugged and durable than the Fobus holsters I've seen.

Not to mention the fact that I've seen the body of the Fobus holster ripped away from the paddle with the gun in it while the holster was being worn. A buddy of mine showed me this when I told him I had bought a new holster and was going to toss the Fobus. He simply grabbed the body of the holster with my unloaded 23 in it and yanked downward while I was wearing it. He didn't have to yank very hard either, it came apart remarkably easy. No thanks.

I would seriously consider other options before settling for the Uncle Mike's, and I will definately never buy another Fobus as long as I live.
 
I use a Galco Summer Comfort IWB model number J619T or SUM248, fits like a glove.

I bet you can find one of those in your area
 
I have an Uncle Mike's

that I'm fairly happy with. For the cost it's worth a try. I'm also left handed so it makes holster shopping even more interesting.
 
The first holster I had for my CZ was a Fobus. For me it did not work well at all, got rid of it as fast as I could. On the web check Kramer it's where the CZ rides now and I have had no problems with it at all. If you are interested in a kydex holster rather than leather take a look at www.grandfatheroak.com. Good quality at very good prices. I use one of these whenever conditions call for a plastic holster.

Question, when you say "Where I live" are you talking about where you normally live or the Middle East?

The Fobus line is made from injection-molded plastic, not Kydex.
 
I've got a Fobus fixed paddle for my M1911s. I've only used it a couple of times since I don't wear cover garments when it's warm, and never wear untucked. I've used it a time or two since it started getting cooler. It seems perfectly adequate. I'd wear it under a sweatshirt or sweater.
 
fobus holsters can be ripped apart from the rivots it pulled at the proper angle. go with uncle mikes.
 
The fobus has a rivet where other plastics have a tension screw.
Where I said "tweak": I drilled out the rivet. Installed a small spring and bolt that made it adjust well to my 75B....no problems for two years.
 
I bought an uncle mike's holster at Cabelas and it was a total pos. The tension screw did nothing at all. I brought it back and the staff there couldn't get it or another one on the shelves to work. Since firearms falling out of holsters is not funny I returned it. I went with a black fabric style from a gun show. at least I know it will keep my gun on my belt.
 
Fobus

I had a Fobus for my CZ and could not draw the gun with two hands. It was almost impossible to get that gun out. Bought a Comp tac on the net great holster!. Gus
 
Not a big fan of Fobus holsters and accessories. The one holster I had did not fit my gun very well, and did not allow for any way of making an adjustment to it. The other item, a clip-on magazine holder for a double column 9mm. magazine, would not allow even a Browning HP mag to go into it. Only after some judicious carving and filing of the plastic body, was I able to get it to fit. If those are your only two choices, I would definitely go with the Uncle Mike's holster.
 
This is probably a small consideration, but it is an Israeli design. If that would irritate any arabs you might do business with, get the Uncle Mike's holster.

I've been without a web connection for a couple of days, so wasn't able to get back to you sooner.

I had the misfortune to live in Saudi Arabia for many years (large family to feed) and the misfortune to return to a Britain which has been wrecked by some awful politicians.

Because of this, and because our kids are all grown up, my wife and I have come to live in Peru, the country where she was born, and where I once worked back in the eighties.

Importing from the States is not easy, but there are ways of doing it through US PO boxes and contracts with civil airlines.

After much thought, I've decided to try this, and order another make of holster. I'd quite like a leather one, and will be considering brands like Galco and Di Santis.

This is the first time in my life that I have been able to own firearms , and as I'm still a novice, I regularly read posts on this forum and often ask for advice.

I'm very grateful to you all for helping me out.
