Irresponsible father lets 9-year-old son shoot a submachine gun!

I don't see how thats irresponsible other than the distance at which they're shooting at.

It doesn't look like they did anything dangerous. Granted, the range was a little close, but the dad was supervising at his shoulder the whole time.
Personally, I could see better guns for a kid his age to shoot. A nice Marlin .22 rifle fired from the prone position could be a lot more fun for a kid that size. After all, you wouldn't want to give a kid a caliber that could cause them to develop a flinch. However, this kid looks like he's bold enough to handle the recoil.
But 1KPerDay is right about how many liberals would be quick to label this father as "irresponsible" for taking the time to instruct his son on safe firearms practices.

Yeah, we've been out a few times and started on .22s, rifles, revolver and semi-auto. This was his special day out alone with mom and dad and this is what he chose to do. I asked him what guns he wanted to take along and he said, "The Beretta, the Sig, the Mini-14, the AR-15, the M1 Carbine, the submachine gun, the .410, and the bolt-action .22." So we did. He shot them all and had a blast. Then we went out for indian food.
I was holding onto the suppressor while he ran the gun, BTW.

That's what I thought. How many rounds until it got too hot to hold, or did you even get that far?

Well supervised...Dad did good...
I took my 11y/o grandson out and paid GOOD MONEY to let him shoot a Ma Deuce, an AK47, two MP5's, a Maxim, and two 1919's in a twin mount. Guess I should be in prison for such irresponsibility. I'm sure Obama would be apalled.

It has a nifty heat-resistant sleeve on it... never gets too hot to handle. Unfortunately that sleeve makes the already mostly useless sights completely useless, but that doesn't really matter.
