Congrats to your brother. I hope he enjoys it there.
I own an FNP-40. I prefer it compared to my brother's Glock. Slide is tight, handles nice, my brother wants to trade up from his Glock after testing it at the range the other week. FN's service is Excellent, none can compare...Check them out.

The only downfall is not alot of aftermkt accesories available yet...but I do like to K.I.S.S., My FNP is my carry piece, I use Hydrashoks (carry) & WWB (target). Never had an FTF/FTE w/ factory loads. The only issue I had w/ FTE was when I had less than 20 round thru & I used 7 shots of ammo charged to minimum that the guy @ our local range had me try...it was their own stuff they have you use in their rentals...the spring was new & stiff...what can I say, not enough ooomph in the reloads to properly operate the slide.

While in Iraq, my brother carried a S.A.W. & I believe it was mfg by FN. Any company that manufactures military hardware is a company I feel I can believe in for civy products. Just my $.02 but to each his own, I compared several firearms (Kimber,Sigma, Sig, Glock) & this one felt right for me.

Wow, can you say half off SCAR and PS90?

Buy as many SCARs as you can!!!! After that, PS90, FS2000, and FNP's all the way. The first two are maybe a fair deal at half price. Luckily the FNP's are already reasonably priced, but at half off they'd be deal of the century.

Whomever told you FN were bad guns was either kidding you or a total Moron. FNH has the best world-wide reputation for the quality of their weapons due to the combat weapons they make for so many armed forces, national security services and law enforcement on all seven continents (yes, even Antarctica!).

I have an FNP-45 USG and can't say enough good about it so far. No FTF or FTE, excellent combat accuracy, easier to take apart and clean than my Glock-23, it holds 15+1 in .45ACP, doesn't have any liberal safety crap printed on the sides and...oh yeah, and their made in the USA!

In fact, the only things I can think of "bad" about FNH-USA is that the commercial handgun are so new (especially the .45 ACP) that their are no after market products out for them yet.

I have a friend who works for them in Utah and he says they're a great company to work for. I told him to put every penny he could into purchasing their handguns while he has the chance. It is, indeed, a great gun.

Well.. the FN Herstal website still shows classic Browning HP pistols.

Hey, we just gave a 9mm FN pistol to an 11-year old girl on the radio show last Sunday! It was really neat to surprise her with that.

Of course, it will have to go to her father, but Ali will get the gun.

A 12-year old girl called the show the same day to ask about what sights to use on her Glock 34.

I don't know what the deal is now, but back in the day, it was 10% under wholesale, which is probably about half-price relative to MSRP.

The real bargains are on the dead rack, but make sure you know what you are looking at.

the dead rack is guns that they can't sell commercially, because there is something "wrong" with them: scratched, quality guns with a few hundred rounds on them, demo guns that went to magazine writers, or followed a salesman around the country, etc.

FNP is 5.4" high
FNP-M is 5.1" high

The ~3/8" difference in grip length between my Steyr M and Steyr S make all the difference in the world for carry. I imagine the same would go for the FNP.

I have a buddy that shoots at MC

I just go to Shooters Choice because it's close to work and I can just stop in at lunch or what not. What firearms do you have currently and shoot regularly? Just curious. My buddy that Shoots at MC bought the FNP 45 at the same time I did. He loves his too. Let me know if you want to try it out and maybe we can schedule it. My buddy Mike and I can bring the 45's and let you try them out I'm sure. He got his in all black and I got the stainless. he's also got the smaller backstrp installed and I have the full. Sorry about the layoff by the way! I'm sure things will be picking back up soon

-wait I thought SC changed the law for having to be 21 for owning a pistol? Shooter's Choice not acknowledging that? I mean I prefer an outdoor range anyhow, but ... Oh well nevermind, I guess it's their call who shoots and who doesn't.

I like some FN's and, some I don't like. Just like all things, I don't like all the products that one vendor sells. If I worked there I would just get a P90 "no I don't mean the civilian PS90" out of curiosity more than anything. Maybe one of those new .45s they make. Then I would just keep getting SCAR light rifles and mags. I'd forsake my AR15s for the SCAR light.

Tell your brother congrats and be prepared to do lunch at Little Pigs B-B-Que on Alpine! I work at USC and we sometimes take the drive to LP's for lunch and there is always a big crowd there from FN. BTW, I live just around the corner from FN and can hear the indoor range all hours of the night while they are testing out all of our GI's toys. I've even got one of the FN9P's that FN donated to Spring Valley High School for a fundraiser. Yep, I've got a Spring Valley Issued Hand Gun! How may people do you know that can say they bought a handgun from a high school?
