Does anyone have any experience with Georgia Arms "Canned Heat" Bulk ammo? Also for my S&W 1911 .45 acp would you prefer 185 grain or 230 grain for range use? For SD use ? and why please...

I bought both the 185 and the 230, I don't know why but the 230 shot much better than the 185s. I got 500 rounds of each and had no problems. I am going to buy another 500 230gr this weekend. It is, as benderx4 says, dirty but it shoots just fine.

I've had mixed results from Georgia arms. I've shot through 1k of their .45 ACP with no problem, but i have a batch of 500 9x19 and 500 .40S&W that seem to have the bullets seated to deeply. They jam in every gun I've tried. I'll eventually just use that crap ammo as reloading components once I get the equipment. I am done doing business with Georgia Arms.

my buddy got 1k rds of it for a class that we took together at Tactical response, it all shot fine and there were no issues at all. i shot a little of it and neither of us had any complaints.

btw he shot thier .40 in his glock 23, and i shot it in my xd service model.

I bought their 500 pack of .223 in the ammo can. I considered it a great buy. Not a single problem in the entire lot. It was all polished up and shot good too. It arrived really fast without a lot of fanfare. I would do it again.

I've bought canned heat from them for years in 9mm and .40S&W. Never had any problems with any of it. It is a little more dirty than usual and throws out a little more smoke.....but hey, it's good for training. Getting your pistol nice and dirty is a good way to determine its reliability overall.

I've also bought quite a bit of their shear power plus in Gold Dot. Never had any problems with it, seems to be as accurate as factory stuff, and burns fairly clean.

I've shot their bulk .40 and 9mm for the last 4-5 years and their .270 for deer hunting for probably as long as possum and can't remember any problems. Some have reported problems with their ammo for black guns. Use the search feature and you'll probably keep yourself busy for an hour reading.

I've used Georgia Arms ammo in .30 Carbine, .32 H&R Magnum, .380 Auto, .357 Sig, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. All of it worked great and I found it to be very clean.

never had a problem with Cnned Heat.

I have ordered 9mm, .223, and recently 380ACP. Never had a problem with any of it. Price is as good as anyone's and the ammo cans the rounds are shipped in are a handy bonus.

Good stuff. Keep it quiet though so they won't raise their prices anymore! hehe :p

Yes forgot to mention that. When I buy from them at the gun show (I've ordered by mail a few times as well) the people working the table there were very friendly and helpful.
