Anyone own an Armscor 1911 ?

You'll probably want to ask about or search for "Rock Island Armory" and "Charles Daly" brand 1911s, as they're both made by Armscor, as well.

If it's a "real Armscor", as in rollmarked Armscor on the slide, buy it!!! Those aren't imported here anymore. Excellent quality pistols. Armscor still makes their branded pistols, but they're not imported to the US. The line they make that IS imported here is Rock Island Armory, High Standard and certain frames for STI 1911's. Those are also fine quality pistols, although considered entry-level 1911's by a lot of folks.

Armscor/RIA are very highly thought of by the folks that own them, and the importer, Advanced Tactical in Pahrump, NV, will stand behind them 100% on any problems the guns may have. Buy that Armscor pistol with confidence!

For more info/testimonials, go to www.m1911.org, there's a whole forum dedicated just to those makes, with thousands of happy posts about them. FWIW - I have three RIA's, and you can't have ANY of them!

Great guns for the money, imported now with a slightly different slide (more traditional serrations and parkerized) as the RIA Tactical.

Some had external extractors, IMHO these are a bit less desirable, but I believe they use the EAA Witness .45 extractor so it shouldn't be unobtanium if it breaks someday.

I've got one of the Rock Island compacts, and my experience so far has been less than satisfactory. My first run through with a variety of JHP handloads and the factory mag resulted in 1 malfuction for every 6-8 rounds.

I've sought advice on this board and so today I'm going to go get a couple of quality magazines and some good ammo and try again soon. Will update when I know more. Thanks guys!

With your compact, what kind of malfunctions?
If they are FTF, look and see if the adge of the hollowpoint is hanging on the throat of the barrel. You may just need some polishing or a slight smoothing in that area.

After owning my RIA tactical for nearly two years, I feel like I bought a fifty dollar bill for twenty bucks. It outclasses my PT1911 in finish, accuracy, "feel" and fit. I wish I'd bought the RIA first, I could have avoided the cost of the PT1911 entirely. Not that there is anything really "wrong" with the PT1911, it's just that the RIA surpasses it in all respects.

Sir, I highly recommend replacing the stock recoil spring with one from Wolff, your Compact will perform MUCH better! I have a Compact that had occasional FTF issues, and that spring solved it. A very cheap and effective fix. I "think" the part number is 49022, but you'd be better served to call Wolff or Advanced Tactical to verify that. A/T uses the same Wolff springs for the replacements that they supply, and the highly recommend them.
