Hi.

Hi. I like rifles, mainly. I'm not too big on shotguns. I really am another "tactical" obsessor. I am looking into competition shooting. I like dogs. Dodge and Chevy's are nice...

Greetings from DFW

Hi, I've been reading this for several months and finally decided to join. I'm 24 years old, and I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Five years ago I started reading about freedom, individual rights, and the Second Amendment, and undoing years of socialist indoctrination. I'm interested in rifles (I own two). Not so much into shotguns or handguns.

Hi

I USED TO DO A LOT OF TRAP SHOOTING AND RELOADING,,
I have a 1958Ithaca featherlite, and a Barreta ATA32 AUTO,
My new hand gun purchase is a Taurus PT92, really intrested in purchasing a lazer site that would be an internal mount, any body have any leads on finding one that is in a resonable price range? Most places i visit they are charging more than AIG AND THE BANKS RECIVED on a bailout.
Regards,

Merry Christmas to All.
I'm a new member and just discovered this site while browsing for info on the wonderful old Remington 600 rifle.
I'm a 66 year old retired auto worker living in rural Ohio. I used to be a varmint hunter/hand loader but have done no hunting for many years. I presently reload for handgun plinking only.
I have a Ohio CCW permit and my favorite handguns for concealed carry are Glock G27 w/internal laser sight and Wolf SS barrel. The G27 is .40 caliber. I also sometimes carry .380 Ruger LCP. Other handguns in the cabinet are a KelTec PF-9, a .38 Special Derringer, and a no name .22 revolver w/red dot Aimpoint sight. Got Top Gun trophy with that one while on Chrysler hand gun team.
The only rifle that I presently own is a Ruger 10/22 w/3 x 9 scope.

For those interested in the Remington Model 600 I have the following comments: I had one in 6mm caliber. Had a Redfield 4x12 scope on it. I saw in one of the comments here that the 600 had a 18-1/2" barrel. I believe that mine was 16-1/2", just barely long enough to be legal.
I handloaded a Hornady 75 gr. hollow point load that was mild but extremely accurate. I could consistantly shoot three shot 100 yd. groups 1/2 inch or less from bench rest. After three shots the barrel warmed enough to lose point of aim.
I loaded 105 gr. round nose loads for whitetail deer.
This was one of the nicest guns that I ever owned. Unfortunately I sold it about 30 years ago. I contacted the buyer just last year to see if he'd consider selling it back to me. Unfortunately he's passed it on to his son, who wants to keep it.
This web site looks to be extremely informative. I've posted it to My Favorites, and look forward to good times browsing the pages.

Hello nebie here!!

Guns
I enjoy shooting!
I like rifles more then pistols because practice improves your shot were as with pistols I don't think you get better and better at placing rounds it's either a wound type shot ( take em down) vers ( take'm out for the count)
With Rifles I have gotten much better over time but have lost some due to eye sight loss with age. BUT with practice you do , do better at compensating for wind, weather, and other factors that you seem to automaticlly adjust for over time.
I have trained LEO's on shooting pistols , their range time is very short and saddly it shows in their poor start results BUT once they get some good training for the 5 - 20 foot firefight they appreciate the world and that makes me feel safer.
Have a nice day

I'm a new member and learned of THR while on AR15.com. My interests are mostly focused on self-defense and pistol shooting, although I have a mild case of Black Rifle Disease. I own an XD45 Service model and have a firearms wish list as long as my arm. :neener:

I am a 22 year old from California who takes pride in the right to own a Gun. I have been shooting since I was 6 years-old and killed my first dear at the age of 9.

I am excited to be a part of this group!

New on this site!

Hello everyone and thanks for the info that I have been reading.
I’m a life member to the NRA, posses a Utah CCW and have been a long time gun owner and shooter. Own a few but like most of you since someone keeps coming out with cooler and cooler weaponry I would like to own a few more.
I’m a former Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy and later Orange County Sheriff's Investigator. I have always seen firearms as tools of the trade and not much more than that. Lately I am seeing them as most of you have always seen them, more of a cool toy to own and responsibly play with not to mention as a vital necessity to our right to posses as the second amendment states.
I’m looking forward to chatting with you and discussing our sport.

New to the forum

I guess I should introduce myself... I'm 30 yrs old and until the past few years, my primary exposure to guns has been through "work" (12 years in the Army). I started developing a greater personal interest when I started hunting more, got my CCW, and especially lately with the political climate. As my handle implies, I live in Kansas. I kept on seeing THR referenced in other forums, so thought I'd check it out myself. I really like the conversations and am looking forward to jumping in!

Hi, I'm Bernie and I'm a gunaholic. I've been gun free for exactly ZERO days now, and I'm proud of my progress.

I own a Taurus .38 special, a Smith and Wesson K-38 (pre model 14), and HK USP/C .45, a Remington 20 gauge, a Marlin 336, an I-don't-know-what .22 LR, and a muzzle loader. I fully intend on expanding my collection. :)

I'm into plinking around the range, hunting, and I've been looking into competition.

So, hello THR!

I am a divorced guy in Tx & about to make my first pistol purchase. I went to a range last week & fired several 9,40,45's. I came away with a liking to the KAHR pistol. I am at a cross roads now that I cannot decide which cal. to buy? The 9 is a lot cheaper to shoot since the ammo is so cheap. The 40 & 45 ammo are priced up there, about 1 1/2 times as much. But old gun men tell me get the 45 for stopping power, but I have that thing in my mind about cheap to shoot with the 9. I think if you pull any gun on someone, they are not going to ask, hey what cal. is that gun? They will just get the hell out of there. BUT on the other hand, I like the idea of one shot may actually stop someone breaking in my house or in the park some night. I was also thinking of purchasing a 12 Gage for home protection only. Any insight you could give me would sure help. Like I said I fired glocks, tauras, wather, s&w, and still like the shot grouping of the KAHR much better.

Greetings from NY!

Great site and glad I joined.

Look forward to shooting the breeze with you all............pun intended :neener:

Hi All.
I'm Cliff. A 54-year old ex-Limey who's now lived here for 14 years.
I was in management until last year when cancer knocked me flat.
Now, my only interest ib shooting, but as $$$ are tight, I'm getting into reloading. I've looked at many postings on the sight and have already kearned a ton of tips and info. I've posted my first thread looking for advice on progressive presses and dies, and I'm sure I'll have more to ask in the future.

Hi All,

New here. Name's Kris. Just recently joined here and TFL after spending a couple of years mostly on SGW. Glad to find a site with an active rifle crowd. I mostly like the less than common guns. Mannlicher stocks, Lever rifles, SXS shotguns and SA revolvers. Ooops, forgot just ordered an AR-15. Had to get one while I still could. Happily I found a dealer who wasn't gouging and got a Stag for a little over $900.

Got a wish list a mile long, but what I'm really saving for (if I can ever learn to stay away from the auction sites!) is a CZ 550 full stock from the custom shop.

Glad to be here......Thanks

My Wife Thinks I'm Crazy

Yep, my wife thinks I'm crazy and I need a an outlet. As per my wife I have an addiction, I can't say no to a another gun. My newest is my Weatherby 7MM Rem Mag and the others range from my Springfield 1911 .45, also have the Colt 1911 in the .45, a model 66 S&W .357mag and about 8 other handguns, a couple of shotguns and about 10 other rifles. Several are modified with some cool toys such as laser and night sights and enough ammo to hold our own when the SHTF so to speak. I am not a doomsdayer, I just like my guns. I am an avid hunter from elk to rabbits and birds are my favorite, and we have a sever hog and coyote problem around here, but most of all I just like to go out in the pasture and target shoot with my wife, kids and a few friends.

Hello I am a new member here, but have been browsing as a guest for a while now. I am in to all types of guns and addicted to reloading.:D
