Best Gun Magazine (For Reading)

I like Shooting Times and American Handgunner. My dad's got a Guns&Ammo subsription, because it was dirt cheap, but its not that great. However, the write-up they did on the XD-M 9mm, gotta have one!

I like Guns Of The Old West magazine.

I like SGN for Steven Mathews projects (because the machining stuff is interesting to me). It is the only thing I buy from Wal-Mart, the only place in town that carries SGN.

I enjoy Rifle and Handloader,but like a previous post select on articles that interest me. These are not gun mags but the only ones I truly look foreward to are Fur Fish and Game,and Backwoodsman.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned Small Arms Review. This and SGN are the only gun publications I can actually read without laughing at the ridiculous articles.

Small Arms Review has a lot of interesting articles on little known firearms and whatnots.

I have been reading Small Arms Review and The Accurate Rifle ever since they started.

I still prefer Shooting Times over the others. Well written, informative, doesn't shill too hard for the gun companies, and is affordable. I have not picked up a G&A in months.

Basically, what .38 Special said. Rifle; especially Ross Seyfried and John Barsness. Handloader to a lesser extent.

+1 for Guns, American Handgunner, Rifle, and if you reload, Handloader. The rest are just also-rans.

Boy, I read the letters of adoration for Connor in every issue of Handgunner. Gotta admit I'm one of those guys who just doesn't get it.

Maybe I like at least a hint of subtlety from a writer...

+1 on Small Arms Review. If you're into full-auto and military small arms, this is THE mag to get.

I agree. Just don't tell His Editorship.

I think Rifle is the best of the major mags. Some of the small circulation mags such as Precision Shooting and Varmint Hunter are quite superior to the run of the mill issue of Funs and Ammo or Shooting Times.

Took the words right out of my mouth!! I subscribed to both magazines for a number of years, & still have most of them for reference purposes. Once Seyfried parted company I lost interest, as I'm mostly interested in older & classic firearms, & Mike Venturino coming on board drove the last nail in the coffin as far as I was concerned. I discovered Seyfried is a semi-regular contributor to the Double Gun Journal (excellent high quality quarterly publication), so I now subscribe to that. The only other gun magazine I get is the one with my NRA membership, but most months I just skim through that before tossing it in the recycling bin. I also get the Colonial Williamsburg magazine which I quite enjoy, as I'm interested in history.

Yeah, I took DGJ for a while almost entirely on the strength of Seyfried, but most of those guns are so expensive that I can't even work up any worthwhile fantasies about them. I did see an article by him in American Rifleman recently. Regular contributions from him would certainly enliven what I consider a fairly dull magazine.

I enjoy "GUNS" mag the most. A-

I just subscribed to "Shooting Times" and I give it a solid B/B+
