Over at hkpro A member is running a "Break my HK45 project" And it appears so far hes ran +13000k with no problems. Whatsoever, I'm running a HK45c with only like 1200 rounds through it and not a single malfunction yet.

Keep the 1911

I've had both 1911 & USP, which I consider the prototype for the HK45 (my opinion and my opinion alone).

They are vastly different in design, feel and operation, and if you only wanted some refinements on your S&W 1911, you might consider buying another 1911 with all the refinements you want already built in. The dominant decision factors (which are unknown to me) are 1. the use you intend for the pistol and 2. how much money you are willing/able to spend.

The last thing I would want to do is buy an "upgrade" pistol and realize I like it even less than the original. In any case, Good Luck!

Never understoof the H&K hype..everyone I have known personally who has owned one said they thought it was severely overpriced for what it is. I've always liked my 1911s, and if I want a plastic gun I'll get a pair of Glocks for the price of a single H&K.

I decided to keep the 1911 and get the mods done to it...i met with the gunsmith today and I felt very confident that he would do good work, and I really think in general I would rather have a 1911 than an HK. Thanks for all your help guys!

Thank you lord, i was scared there for a minute. the 1911 is a better choice, in a fighting gun. i like the H&K pistols i own a mark23 and an expert. but as far as a carry gun a 1911 is easier to conceal and a far better pistol in my opinion
