So everyone talks about how great c-products mags are, so I tacked on 3 with my Widener's ammo order. I got the black painted stainless 20 rnd, and today my order shows up.

So I scratch numbers in the sides to tell them apart and start slamming in the stripper clips...and then the problems started. Rounds popping out, follower nosediving; I even tore up one of my clips. :( It appears the main problem is that the lips are too small.

So did I just get some Monday morning mags, or are they all this way? I'm wondering if Widener's will take them back after I scratched numbers in. Should I just take this as a lesson learned?:fire:

If you call C-products you can send them back and they will replace them for you. I have never had a problem with any of my mags from them. I also don't use the stripper clip speed loaders either.

<---- doesn't talk about how great cp mags are

C-Products has very good customer service when their products fail to perform- which is not often, considering the number of mags they sell. Contact them.I'm sure they will make it right.

i don't use c-products mags, but as others have said i'm sure they'll make it right.

as for the lesson learned part. i don't number my mags until they are run without problems for this reason.

Thats why I mark my mags with a map pen. It won't come off with water or sweat or anything. You have to use alcohol to take it off effectively.

I wouldn't buy dog poop from CP.

Oh, wait, I did. It came shaped like an aluminum GI mag with a ripoff Magpul fake follower, a stainless steel AR mag with a similar follower, and 9mm AR mags.

So I was wrong. I bought a lot of dog poop from CP. I at least tried to send back some of it (although I know that you can't polish a turd), but then it got "lost" and never resurfaced. Oh well, it smelled anyway.

I have no experience with CP AR mags, (No reason to buy AR mags from CP when their are so many proven brands at the same cost), but have had great success with their 9MM mags in my RRA.

I've had good success with CProducts, but I have read reports of the occassional mag being defective.

And CProducts has a strong reputation of making it right.

I at least tried to send back some of it (although I know that you can't polish a turd), but then it got "lost" and never resurfaced.

Did you follow up with them? Did you have a tracking number? I am having a hard time believing that they told you "Don't see em" and left it at that.

As for me, I have several SS AR magazines on back order as well as a number of LR-308 ones.

This has been at least 1-1.5 years ago now. The whole thing was one giant cluster-F, and yes that's exactly what he told me. "We don't see them here" followed by a long uncomfortable pause an then refusal to answer emails or return phone calls for weeks.

I gave up. He's not worth the time.

My personal opinion is that I see NO reason to even risk dealing with CP outside of 9mm ARs (and even then go into the situation with eyes open). With all the other options available in the AR magazine market there's little to no reason to gamble on spotty QC and questionable CS.

I have (cough cough) several dozen C Products mags in 6.8SPC and they have all been reliable.

i purchased a few CP magazines, about a year ago. they are just 10 rounders with a magul gen 2 or 3 follower. never have i had a problem with any of them. infact everything on them is exactly as it should be and has given me nothing but reliability. but lately i think their QC has gone to crap as all these reports start popping up about mag problems, it makes me question their long term reliability. and now that i think of it, their fake magpul followers arent really that great either.

so i would say, make them give you GOOD magazines then dont ever deal with them again.

wait for pmags.

wait for pmags.

I actually question the reliability of any Polymer magazine over the long run.

I keep thinking about the fact that if there IS an AWB, magazines better last you.

I do have some experience with this.

I had to pay $$$$ for Glock 19 Magazines back in 1994.

Two months ago, I found something odd:

Somehow I had one Glock 19 magazine that I had loaded with Corbon 115 grain in 1994. Somehow it got misplaced in an ammo box and forgotten about. I took it out and it was fine. Until I slipped it into my Glock 19. As soon as I did, the bottom lip of the magazine body that holds the floorplate on cracked off and the magazine emptied out the bottom.

Granted, this magazine was stored loaded for 14 years. But I don't know how long it was before the magazine was weakened. And while 14 years loaded is a long time, I question whether other polymer magazines would hold that long.

Most would say that 14 years in loaded storage is good enough. But what about when you can't get more?

I also had a 20 round Colt-made AR-15 magazine loaded in that box and it is fine.

I'm not taking a stab at Pmags, but it is something to think about.

As it is, there is nothing that I can do to fix the broken Glock 19 magazine that I have. And the magazine body is the "preban" part, I think.

They use real Magpul followers. In my experience, CP mags feel a lot more solid (less rattle sounds) than USGI surplus mags. They recently had to move their production facility because their mags are so popular that they exceeded their production capacity at their old facility. Their mags recieved an endorsement from the National Tactical Officers Association, which is a respected professional organization. I've been to their plant before, and they are good people.

I have used C-Products magazines in 6.8SPC. They work great. Have never heard of anyone complaining about their customer support.

C-Products stainless mags have been more problematic than the standard aluminum ones. Their brand of followers are also spotty.

I have a case of their aluminum mags with Magpul followers and run them exclusively in my ARs. Never an issue.

I've had good luck with C-Products mags also, and I've dealt with their customer service - also top notch. I got a couple dozen of the stainless AR mags - they sent aluminum ones and charged the (lower) price for aluminum mags. When we got them and realized they weren't steel, they took them back and sent us stainless mags without any charge for the additional mag cost (of steel versus aluminum). And the mags work great - no problems.

Did you have a tracking number or proof or delivery? Did you insure them when you shipped them? No offense Rob, but if you failed to follow up and didn't exercise due dilligence in how you shipped them, I wouldn't expect them to make good. "yeah, I ...um, sent some mags back, but I don't have a tracking number, I didn't insure them, and I can't prove I did anything, so if you could just send me more mags that would be great."

All my C-products mags work fine. Considering how many they make, I would expect a few dud just like any other manufactured product.
