I just received my Lee 6 cavity bullet mold today. I know it’s not a race but how many bullets can you make in an hour? Once you get everything heated and the mold working properly. Thanks.

I run just under 500 and hour, casting, sizing & lube. Not super fast, but machines do the work with little intervention.

I’ve never tried to time myself while casting. Usually it takes me 20 or so cast before I start keeping boolits. That’s even with a pre heated mould. I inspect my cast till I consistently get keepers then I start my keepers pile (I usually always water drop). I hardly ever have any rejects when I do this.

Twenty-four bullets per minute.

If I have enough furnace capacity to keep pouring (a 20 pound bottom pour furnace to cast from, and another acting as a melter) . . .
If the ingots don't run out . . .
If the wife, daughter and dogs don't interupt . . .

You will need to use BullPlate sprue plate lube at this speed, or you will get Lead smears on the top of the blocks and bottom of the Sprue Plate, as well as galling (an adhesive wear pattern) between the two.

Graphite spray mold release may be necessary with some molds to get the bullets to drop freely.

Material handling of the new bullets becomes a problem with air cooled (they ding each other) so I water drop into a 5 gallon bucket of water. They come out hard that way.

I use a bit of Tin in my Wheelweight scrap to make sure I get good fill-out.
