Just got my purchaser's permit last month and i'm trying to decide between the two. i have some experience shooting but this will be my first purchase. i've gone to my local gun shop 3 times now and tried out both (also tried glock 19, S&W M&P, Beretta 92FS). it seems every time, though, i'm back to deciding between the Springfield XD and the Sig P250. i basically want something i can take to the range a lot and reliability is important too. any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Search this forum and SigForum for "P250". I think you'll come to your own conclusions... ::cough:: XD ::cough, cough::
I would also not be happy with myself if I didn't push the Glock 19, so there's my recommendation. But really, it's a wash between the Glock and the XD - both excellent weapons. The P250 isn't even on the same field.

The 250 hasn't even been around long enough to be a proven gun....

The XD by a MILE. They've proven their mettle. I have the XD45 and XD40 and have been through a lot. Neither of them have let me down.

I'd go XD without question. I was not impressed with the P250 my friend picked up and this is coming from huge Sig fan. The first time out my friend had to give up shooting it because it would ftf after every shot with the Magtech ammo he bought for it.

Why limit yourself ?

You didn't mention, the Glock,so,I will.I own all three of the brands you mention.

It really depends on the individual,as all three are excellent choices.I favor the Glock the most, but ,that's just my preference.I like the Sig,and the XD also.

Really, whatever feels best in your hand, and what you can hit your target consistently with. They all have good points, and very few bad points.

The XD will be the cheapest in cost, with the Sig being the highest,if cost is an issue. The Glock lies in the middle cost wise.

The best feature of the new Sig P250,is the ability to change to four calibers, but,at a cost.

All three are reliable and accurate.I personally feel the Glock is the toughest auto made, with the XD coming in a close second. The Sigs will definitely not take the abuse that a Glock can take, and continue to fire.

If you live near a range that rents weapons, shoot all three, see what feels good to you,and decide for yourself !

welcome to thr,

if you want reliability and accuracy i am sure the sig would serve you well, i have seen one run in a handgun course last year with no issues, however i have over 11k rds through my xd and i love it, still going strong and i will buy another in the near future.

Glock 19 or M&P for me. Parts availability in the future would be a concern for the XD. I have not read any flattering reviews for the 250 anywhere. If cost is a concern I would believe either the G19 or M&P would win this battle as well.

Don't forget proven track records also if this is to be a defensive gun.

Just my 2 cents:)

I would go with the xdm I had the 250 for some time, really not comparible too any other sigs, Kind of cheap. The xd is better in my opinion.
I didnt like the dao on the 250.....

thanks for all the responses so far everybody. i will definitely take your thoughts into consideration. luckily, my permit doesn't expire until march 23rd so i have some more time to decide.

All -

And, yeah, we also have the red -

Haired stepchild,

Namely, any of the CZ line.

I am particularly fond of the P-01's.

I do believe this all tracks back to

Advertising budget, rather than

Real-world performance.

In this case, Id vote for the XD. If the P226 were among the choices, well...Id go in that direction. But, the XD9 has proven to be very reliable and well made, particularly considering its relatively low price. I dont think you will be sorry for choosing the XD (I have the XD45 and so far, have been impressed...for the most part).

Hello people,

I'm a newbe here to the forum. Ive read just a few of the post and would like to add my comments on the XD 9 subcompact. I've always carried a colt 45 1911 70 series.

I have just recently purchased an Springfield XD 9. So far after about 500 rounds ... I love it great concealment weapon, very accurate to me anyway, overall just a great weapon. I'm impressed.

I would like a few recommendations on a shoulder holster .. I think it will work best for me right now.

Thanks in advance

I am a huge fan of Sigs, but if forced to choose I would get the Springfield XD every time. I think the Sig P250 is still in the testing phase. The Springfield has graduated from this phase and has proven reliable.

I was in the same boat you were in a couple months ago. I optted for the 250 in a compact frame in 9mm. I love the gun so far. I still really like the XDM its hard to argue with 19+1. The reason i went with the 250 is the abilty to change calibers and frames while keeping the same trigger. If you havnt shot both weapons do so and which ever you choose it will be a fine investment.

i should have mentioned that the xd in question is not the xdm. i haven't seen any xdm's for sale in new jersey. 19 rounds would be illegal anyway. plus, i haven't found a place that lets you rent weapons. jersey is a little atypical compared to a lot of the other state's people live in that post here.

i'm going with the xd 9mm with the 3" barrel. now i just have to wait for the shipment to come in to my dealer. ::tick tock tick tock::
