The gun show I attended last weekend was totally packed. I can normally walk in the door without waiting for much of a line...this time the line was out the lobby and around the corner of the civic center. What's more, everyone was coming out with something, either guns or ammo, whereas normally there are plenty of browsers there. Ammo was scare by the afternoon of the first day, particularly for popular handgun and rifle calibers. Anything AR- or AK-related, particularly accessories, were marked way up.
There were some great deals to be had on non-military-style rifles, shotguns, handguns, bolt-action rifles, and old milsurp rifles, and even on ARs if you kept your eye open. One big dealer had all their ARs at manufacturer MSRP, which was very surprising.
I visited two local gun shops on Friday, Roanoke Firearms and Sportsmans Warehouse. Roanoke Firearms had two ARs in stock (they normally carry at least 10-15) and Sportsman's Warehouse was cleared out of all the evil black rifles and all non-magnum pistol ammo and all 5.56mm NATO and 7.62x39 Soviet, which they normally stock in bricks on palates.
