Hey, what do y'all hog hunter use to bait your hogs? A buddy of mine found a herd of feral hogs here in AZ but apparently they are elusive during the day.

My uncle's #1 favorite hog lure is the Kool-Aid pre-sugared powder in cherry or strawberry, with enough water to make it into a paste. For less than $4, he can fill a truckbed with hogs in a weekend. Corn, molasses, and maple waffle syrup work too.

Sour corn. Take some deer corn let it soak in water for a week. Go dig a ole and dump it in. Cover the hol and the hogs will come and root for days.

I have not had the oppurtunity to try it yet, but I have heard that corn mixed with diesel fuel works pretty well. Anyone here ever try this?

I have heard that to. Also telephone pole cutoffs next to some type of bait does work pretty well keeps them coming back to rub on the creosote oil.

I would say mix any bait that you use with a little diesel, it serves multiple purposes... hogs enjoy the smell of it and it keeps all the other animals you might normally attract away, like deer, coons and live stock. If you are using traps, just poor diesel on the hinges it lubricates, as well as the aforementioned purposes. "Hog Wild" works well also from what I have heard... Koolaid powder or just plain old soured corn. The telephone pole idea sounds like a good idea also, every creosote post at our place has rings around it from those silly hogs rubbing against them. sittin on the tailgate drinkin beer in the middle of a pasture seams to work very well for us as well... must be the smell of cheap beer and our man fragrance lol.

old apples soaked in whiskey, fruit jello with vodka, corn and old molasses

Your wasting whiskey on a pig???? Something is wrong there.
I've used jello and cool aid with good success.

I agree with the rotten deer corn. Bury it to keep coons away and the hogs will root to find it. When they are preoccupied with rooting for food, you can get usually get off a few shots before they run.

I have always like to use the 4 ounce packages of wildberry Jello. Easy to carry when compared to 50 pound bag of corn. Dust a few bushes in the area you are watching. One package can treat several areas if you like to move around.

What is the shortest amount of time that you had a hog come and check on the dusted bushes bidshot8's?

3pairs12, I never really thought about how long they took to come in, I have had hogs in my lap fairly soon after sitting down. I used it for a stop and diversion, as much as an attractant. A deputy from Washington County told me about using the Jello. He baited his hog traps with jello.

I've been hunting them for years and just use a plain old corn feeder with no special mix. This works well for me.

I just have to give that idea a try.

I had been told that ONLY hogs would come to diesel corn, but that is TOTALLY FALSE. A couple of years ago, I was having trouble with deer getting in my hog trap and tried diesel corn. I caught 3 more deer and not one single hog. I just quite trapping and started shooting them.
